Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lydia Doyen. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lydia , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
When we decided we wanted to start a business we knew we needed a good name. We thought about it for a while and decided to go with Northern Roots Engraving. We choose the Northern Roots part because we are from NH. That is where our family roots are. We love and miss our home state so why not honor it in our business name.
We moved to NC in 2021 to experience a new adventure.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My husband has always working in machining. I have been a stay at home mom for 10 years. I have found it extremely difficult to get back into the workforce. We have always wanted to find something to do on the side to make money. Me and my husband decided it was time to start our own thing and create a business.
We started Northern Roots Engraving to make wonderful holiday decor and personalized gifts. We want to help people make a lasting memories. We are currently making Christmas ornaments, signs, and personalized signs for kids rooms.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
It will be so rewarding to help create that perfect personalized gift for weddings, babies, birthdays, anniversaries, etc.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our goal is to have a successful business that we are proud of. We just want to have something that is ours.
