LXVE , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
I firmly believe that life is akin to a intricate game of risk and reward, where every decision we make carries a certain degree of uncertainty. Embracing this notion allows us to find solace in the pursuit of greater risks, as they imbue our existence with a sense of exhilaration and purpose. Among the risks I have encountered in my journey, the most profound was embarking on the path of being a musican/creative.
As a musician and sound engineer, I ventured into uncharted territory, merging the knowledge I gained from my studies at Georgia State’s school of business with my passion for the arts. This calculated risk enabled me to establish my own business centered around music and sound, where I seamlessly navigate the realms of both entrepreneurship and artistic expression.
While I could have chosen the conventional route of joining a prestigious firm straight out of college, I recognized the inherent limitations it would impose on my personal growth. Instead, I chose the path of an entrepreneur, meticulously constructing my vision from the ground up, brick by brick. When you delve into my art, music, and brand, you will notice everything has a message and everything is well though out. Every aspect has been thoughtfully considered, from the intricacies of branding to the art of effective marketing. This comprehensive understanding allows me to not only create, but also to connect with an audience on a deeper level.
I say all of this to say that the risk I undertook was far from easy, and continues to present its own challenges. In fact, during the infant stages of my pursuit, I found myself homeless in 2018. This experience, while arduous, served as a catalyst for my growth and resilience. Through the crucible of adversity, I discovered an unwavering determination to never find myself in such a predicament again. It ignited an inner fire, propelling me forward with renewed motivation. I embarked on a journey of self-empowerment, diligently honing my financial acumen and embracing the essence of financial literacy. This new understanding of managing resources proved to be indispensable as I ventured into entrepreneurship, transforming my cherished passion into a thriving business. Indeed, the ability to navigate the intricacies of finance is pivotal when embarking on the path of transforming a hobby into a sustainable enterprise. With this knowledge, I forged a path towards financial stability, ensuring that the foundation upon which my aspirations rest remains sustainable and secure.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Alternative R&B artist LXVE AFTR, pronounced “love after,” has transformed his heartbreak into the driving force behind his label XVTC. Hailing from Atlanta’s Zone 4, LXVE AFTR draws inspiration from his childhood and hometown, shaping his musical career. At the tender age of 8, LXVE AFTR received his first drum set, a gift from his father which would spark a purpose in LXVE AFTR. His ealier acts as a musician began with him joining the chorus at Brown Middle School and playing the Harp as a member of the Urban Youth Harlp ensemble from middle school throughout his time in Highschool at Booker T. Washington.
Fast forward to 2024 LXVE AFTR is a full time artist while also serving as a sound engineer for podcasts, voice actors, live performances, audiobooks, and corporate firms needing audio work. Opening his entertainment company XVTC in 2018, LXVE AFTR has hosted functions within Atlanta marketing his works while giving other artist a platform to showcase their talents. Now LXVE AFTR is on a mission to make his business more creditable to recieve grants and funding to invest in goal on opening up an artist center that will allow children and adults the opportunity to finally chase their dreams in the field of art & entertainment.
LXVE AFTR’s slogan and motto is “Find Love After Everything You’ve Been Through” which encapsulates a powerful message that serves as a constant reminder. It acknowledges the reality that each of us will inevitably encounter challenges and hardships in our lives, often resulting in pain. However, instead of allowing that pain to perpetuate a cycle of hurt, we should commit to channeling it towards the things we love to do, turning it into a source of inspiration and love. With this philosophy at its core, the ultimate goal of this center is to provide a space where individuals can find support, inspiration, and the tools they need to navigate their own healing journeys. It is my belief that by fostering creativity and promoting the transformative power of art, we can help individuals overcome their past and find love and fulfillment in their lives once again.
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
This one is tough because i am always researching and reading up on new concepts of learning. A quote that i hold on to from a book i’ve read states, “Vision without execution is nothing more than hallucinations,” it emphasizes the importance of taking action to turn our ideas into reality. It serves as a reminder that having a vision is not enough; we must actively work towards achieving our goals. Fear of failure is a common obstacle that holds many people back from taking action. However, failure is a valuable teacher and a necessary part of the learning process. Embracing failure allows us to gain insights, learn from our mistakes, and grow as individuals. Overcoming fear is a significant step towards personal and professional growth.
I reocmmend to anyone struggling with getting over their fear to watch Will Smith on youtube, specifically interviews where he breaks down what fear is. His statement, “At the point of maximum fear, you’ll feel nothing, so what’s the point in fearing to begin with,” highlights the idea that fear often magnifies our worries and anxieties, but once we confront our fears, they often diminish or disappear entirely. This realization can empower us to face our fears head-on and pursue our passions with confidence.
In terms of recommended books for aspiring entrepreneurs, I recommend “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki, “The Psychology of Selling and Persuasion” by Brian Tracy, and “Zero to One” by Peter Thiel. These books offer valuable insights into financial intelligence, sales techniques, and the principles of innovation and entrepreneurship. Reading these books can provide you with valuable knowledge and perspectives to support your entrepreneurial journey. Continuing to research, read, and explore new concepts is an excellent habit to nurture. It allows you to broaden your horizons, gain new insights, and stay ahead in your chosen field. What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Being a creative is an incredibly fulfilling journey that is full of excitement and joy. One of the most rewarding aspects is witnessing your own growth unfold right before your eyes. It’s like watching a beautiful masterpiece come to life. The process of nurturing an idea and bringing it into the physical realm is like solving a thrilling puzzle. Every step of the way, you encounter challenges and obstacles that require your problem-solving skills. And when you finally crack the code and see things fall into place, the feeling is absolutely exhilarating. It’s like a surge of energy and accomplishment rushing through your veins.
Imagine starting from scratch with zero followers, and then, through your creativity and hard work, watching that number grow to 1,000, then 9,000. It’s an incredible feeling of validation and recognition for your unique talents. And it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about the journey of building a community, connecting with like-minded individuals, and creating a tribe that supports and appreciates your work. Another remarkable milestone is going from being a one-person show to having a team by your side. It’s a testament to your growth and success as a creative.
