Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luzy King. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Luzy, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard.
In my industry, there’s so much chat about debt being “good or bad,” but this societal definition keeps many women from pursuing their dreams. However, debt has no moral value! Our society teaches men always to leverage debt while teaching women to cut expenses and be frugal to achieve financial goals. My money philosophies are the opposite of what that traditional advice teaches us.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
**PR Pitch Rewrite:**
As a first-generation Latina who rose from humble beginnings, I’ve always viewed education as my ticket out of poverty. My journey began at 16, driven by a simple desire to afford running shoes for my high school’s cross-country team. Little did I know this decision would lead me to a profound love for the hospitality industry.
Working in hotels exposed me to a world of diversity and dynamic conversations, particularly in the bustling lobbies and breakfast areas. It was here that I absorbed discussions on everything from economics and supply chain dynamics to leadership and banking – the very pillars of our economy.
However, in 2019, I faced a harsh reality. Despite pouring my heart into multiple roles, the lack of support from upper management left me exhausted and undervalued. The strain on my physical and mental well-being was undeniable.
Transitioning to life as a stay-at-home mom provided a newfound opportunity to prioritize my personal finances and health. It was during this time that I delved into the realm of personal finance and investing, concepts previously foreign to me.
Over the past five years, I’ve achieved remarkable milestones. From clearing debts to launching my own thriving home-based business, I’ve also taken pride in becoming an angel investor supporting Latina-owned ventures.
My journey is a testament to resilience, determination, and the transformative power of financial literacy. Through my experiences, I aim to inspire and empower others to chart their own path to success.
Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
After leaving my corporate career, I embraced the role of a stay-at-home mom while anticipating the arrival of my second child. While caring for my children was fulfilling, I found myself yearning to rejoin the workforce. During my pregnancy, I actively pursued opportunities in banking and investment firms after I went back to earn my MBA and fell in love with the Finance Industry. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic amplified my decision to launch my coaching and consulting business. Witnessing the disproportionate impact on Latina professionals, many of whom lacked financial safety.
Initially advised to launch a group coaching program for six-figure returns, I followed my intuition and focused on personalized 1:1 coaching. Despite suggestions, I leaned into my own experiences and served one client at a time. Eventually, I achieved a $50K scale before transitioning to group coaching and speaking engagements.
Among numerous milestones, a standout accomplishment is assisting clients in acquiring assets, collectively surpassing $1 million. Many clients saved $10K within six months through my group coaching program, The Say Hola Wealth Academy. Presently, 90% of my clients boast a six-figure wealth portfolio, marking a significant achievement as first-generation wealth builders.
Does your business have multiple or supplementary revenue streams (like a ATM machine at a barbershop, etc)?
Drawing upon my strengths and past experiences as a seasoned leader in revenue strategies, I strategically crafted a purpose-driven business model to cater to my community’s needs. This approach not only enables me to serve my community effectively but also affords me the flexibility to travel and tailor my work schedule to prioritize raising my two young children.
Under the Say Hola Wealth brand, my business thrives with multiple income streams:
1. Coaching & Consulting Revenue
2. In-person and virtual Speaking Engagements
3. Affiliate Marketing through my blog and email marketing
4. Sponsored Content Opportunities on my social media channels
Through Say Hola Wealth, my passion for helping others drives these diverse revenue channels, allowing me to make a meaningful impact while maintaining a balanced lifestyle. The best part of all of these is that I get to choose who I get to work with based on my business vision and values.
