We recently connected with Luxury Strand and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Luxury , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about how you’ve thought about whether to sign with an agent or manager?
I absolutely love working and signing with agencies. The support and protection that comes with working with a team is undeniably stress relieving. However my first years into this industry I had to quickly learn the importance of knowing self and standing firm on the impact you want to leave in this world of artistry. It’s essentially a buiness partnership; so it’s common to be recommend for rebranding in order to ensure profitable business. Knowing your brand is essential to staying original to your ultimate end goal. You may have to do some side marketing at times to pave your own way but staying true to yourself is most important. With a good team they will support both profit and creativity.

Luxury , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Hi, I’m luxury strand ! I’m a hair and makeup airist for film and industry professionals such as models , musicians and more. I started in this industry about 7 years ago , connecting with creators at my local preforming arts College in Chicago. I am most proud about the impact I like to leave on every client. Working with this clientele comes with a lot of pressure for my clients so I like to ensure a stress free environment and use my time as an opportunity to encourage them before their big moment. I’m inspired by creating more diversity in my field and for clients who look like me. Unfortunately I’ve heard far too many horrors story’s about hair and makeup experience for people of color , so I strive to create an inclusive experience for all clients . While keeping the integrity of the hair and skin in tact.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
Earlier on I wish I knew the importance of having a good mentorship for starting my buiness. I also wish I attended more classes outside my field such as accounting , marketing etc; so I can ultimately help build the success of my buiness sooner.
Continuing education is the most important part within my success and having a great mentor can help you avoid many mistakes within your field.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
When I became pregnant last year of 2022. This was a huge pivot for my career. I had to become very specific and intentional about my time. Having my daughter inspired me to expand on more buiness endeavors in order to create more freedom of time to spend with her.
I love what I do but my time is limited now so I had to quickly learn how to improve with my time efficacy while working and meeting certain deadlines. Causing me to become more selective about my time investment towards not so much important things
