We recently connected with Luvia Mosso and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Luvia, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
Chasing Puppy Dreams is an omen to myself to never stop chasing my dreams. There was a period of time when I thought dreaming of certain things was unattainable for me. I have learned to change my mindset and focus on positivity and growth in every area of my life. I began working on myself to see real changes from within. The name Chasing Puppy Dreams always reminds me get up dust myself and try again and again until I get it right! I hope others get inspired by my message of never giving up on yourself!

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is Luvia, I am 36 years old. I’m a stay at home mom to a beautiful little girl and a dog mama to four dogs lol. My husband and I are animal lovers and we share the same love and passion for dogs. My husband and I actually started Chasing Puppy Dreams during the start of the pandemic! I then became pregnant and stopped doing the business for a while. After I gave birth I wanted to give myself another chance with Chasing Puppy Dreams. I didn’t know how to sew in the beginning but I made the decision to learn. I am very proud for making my Mexican Fringe bandanas some of my top selling products as well as Charrito Bows. I decided to dedicate my business to my culture and background. I am a proud Mexican woman and I am very proud of all the positive feedback and all the love I have received for all my Mexican inspired handmade products! I have met so many beautiful amazing people who have become friends as well as their pets! One of my many favorite parts of this business has been to meet so many people and their pets but also I have gotten to know many of them. At pop ups I have met so many people who tell me beautiful stories of their pets, some have already passed away but I always let them tell me their stories. Sometimes they’re sad and I always tell them something beautiful, I love making my customers and every person that I come across feel seen, heard and acknowledged. I know how important that is and I love being able to give them that.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
Give the customers what they want! I worked in the restaurant business for a very long time prior to this. My last boss taught me that if the customer is willing to pay to have a certain item then why not offer it? My business does have the title “Mexican inspired handmade accessories & more” for a reason. Sure my main focus is Mexican inspired accessories but sometimes I have customers who have great ideas and I make it happen for them. Why wouldn’t I? There’s a saying that “the customer is always right” and I do agree. I have also made anime inspired pet accessories and I also kicked butt while doing it! I have even done a little goth Beetle juice moment and that was also a success! I’m good at what I do, I believe in myself and I make my customers visions come to life!

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
I have learned a lot from YouTube university lol! What I mean by this is that I have taught myself mostly everything. From learning how to sew, learning about social media, creating my own website which I am very proud of! I also take my own product photos as well as do a little bit of pet photography. Pet photography is something I am also very passionate about and also very picky on lol. There was a time when I would meet up with certain customers so I could take pictures of their dogs wearing my handmade bandanas. I love doing everything myself to be honest.
