Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Luvenia Mayo. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Luvenia , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One deeply underappreciated facet of entrepreneurship is the kind of crazy stuff we have to deal with as business owners. Sometimes it’s crazy positive sometimes it’s crazy negative, but crazy experiences unite entrepreneurs regardless of industry. Can you share a crazy story with our readers?
Start up and running a small business puts incredible strain on your personal lives and relationships, many of which fail because there is just often no work life balance. You need to be the Director, the admin, marketing team the accountant the cleaner. While being wife, family support & friend while trying to find a balance. I’m not complaining but it’s facts. Running a business is really hard. What they don’t tell you is it can cause severe stress and anxiety to the point of exhaustion and depression. I’m trying to get better by providing self care, self love, speaking to others and realizing you are not in this by yourself. Allowing others to help you in this process.
Here’s a small reminder that we are just normal people with hectic lives, that love what they do. Be kind, patients and support small businesses

Luvenia , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
First I want everyone to know is I love, love what I do. Flair Cuisine LLC, is a local On/Off premise caterer, Our approach Is to take soulful cuisine and bring a modern approach fusing different ethnic spice blends, fresh ingredients, curating bold flavors in reminiscent of what my mother use to make. The problem we solve for our customers is providing healthy options, without losing flavor that your palette is accustomed to, cultivating a taste that’s reminiscent of something special.
We are bring and is dishing out cultured food with a gourmet Flair!
We want our customers to know, we understand the importance of community, customer service and putting out the best products for there memorable event. We don’t take it lightly, that you have other options.
I love my family with every fiber of my being. I finally believe in me, no matter what don’t allow the chatter to take you out..
My favorite quote by Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged
Do not let your fire go out, spark by your replaceable spark. In the hopeless swamp of the not quite, the not yet and then not at all , do not let the hero in your soul perish and leave only frustration for the life you deserve, but never have been able to reach. The world your desire can be one, it exists, it is real, it is possible, it is yours!

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
My start up came from trusting my lord and savior, I didn’t have any financial saved up, all I had was a dream to jump and start my business. The majority of finances I made went back into the business. I wouldn’t advise anyone to do that. One of my biggest mistakes was not having the capital to move my business forward. My family held everything down, paying all the bills, keeping the household a float. I’m very grateful for that. It allowed me to focus on the business without having to worry.

Have you ever had to pivot?
The caterer industry has really suffered, most companies are still working from home. Corporate lunches are not what it once was. I started pivoting once the countywide started opening and allowing outside events to occur. I realize we could start booking festivals, lacrosse games, PopUp lunches, horse-shows, etc. I don’t own a food truck, I’m using a PopUp tent, which is little more tedious, than having a food truck to drive up and pull away once the event was over. But I learned a lot and booked future events from these opportunities.
