Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lupita Gutierrez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lupita , appreciate you joining us today. Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Segundo Acto In LIfe came from my own need for a personal growth community that reflected who I am and where I am in life. I began sharing my life lessons and personal growth content six years ago through my first blog, Better You Space. I shared things like my immigration story, how I fought for status in this country, and how that affected my mental health. Through deep stories and touching subjects that at the time were still in many ways topics not talked about, I began connecting with people. From veterans to single moms. Latinos of different walks of life felt their experiences were being expressed through what I shared.
The more content I shared that reflected my Latinidad, the more the name, and ways of sharing my content needed to shift.
Which is where Segundo Acto came to mind. I wanted to create a space where Latinos/Latinx starting over, trying something new, stepping into a new chapter in life could find community. As the name expresses, their second act in life.

Lupita , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am a personal growth blogger, entrepreneur, and founder of Segundoactoinlife.com. I share stories, and lessons through the Latinx lens. I touch on topics that are important to my community such as mental health, imposter syndrome, entrepreneurship, and relationships, among others. My goal is for my community to feel seen and understood by creating content that feels, sounds, and reads like us. I want my readers’ personal growth journey to be in community and to be more than tips and hacks on how to do more. It is about experiences that shape us because denying that our cultures impact how we move about life is denying the potential there is within us.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is touching people. Witnessing them feeling seen and heard through stories, lessons, and experiences I share. Not to mention the opportunity to open people to different perspectives and potentials. I love to hear people say, ” If she can do it, I can too. ”
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn is that showing different parts of myself would only hurt my brand. When I began blogging I was told to stick to my niche and that showing more personal content would confuse my audience. I held this advice over my head for so long that when I decided to share my immigration journey I felt I was not just stepping out of the box, I was running out of it. The scariest most rewarding thing I did for myself and my audience was to be vulnerable.
