Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lupe Rodriguez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lupe, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Was there a defining moment in your professional career? A moment that changed the trajectory of your career?
My most unhealthiest situation gave me clarity six years ago when I was diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). There is no cure; the only solution to symptoms is managing your hormones by keeping up with a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Maintaining a healthy, balanced life on its own is already difficult. On top of that, adding hormonal imbalances makes it harder, but finding techniques that work for your lifestyle is what I thrive on.
This journey of PCOS/hormonal imbalance has taught me to find holistic solutions that heal from the inside out. Many times we look for quick fix solutions, but I’ve tried those too, and they’re not sustainable! As a compassionate learner, I thrive off practicing grace and learning more about what works and what doesn’t for my well-being.
This is why I decided to leave the corporate world and became a certified Holistic Health Coach, specializing in Hormone Health. I’m on a mission to help Latina women take control of their hormonal health, embrace their natural cycles, and build a sustainable wellness routine that works for their bodies.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, my name is Guadalupe, but most people know me as Lupe. I’m a first-generation Latina woman. My parents immigrated to the US many years ago from Mexico. I’m a proud New Yorker, Sagittarius, who enjoys baking, dancing, and family time. Before turning 30, I was diagnosed with PCOS and was on a mission to heal my irregular periods without the need for birth control. After 3 months of weight training and eating healthier, I found myself having regular, painless periods. I was beyond impressed with the power our body has when we give it what it needs. At the same time, I was going through a feeling of unfulfillment in my career. After some spiritual guidance, I found myself with a Health Coaching program that awoke the entrepreneur in me! I decided I wanted to spread awareness, create a ripple effect that can transform first-generation Latina women to take control of their hormonal health, break generational cycles, and embrace self-love.
I’m committed to helping women discover their superpower because, yes, we all have one! In my 1:1 coaching, I help you FLOW! F.L.O.W is the framework I came up with to help women live a healthy, balanced lifestyle. First, we (F)rame your foundation and understand the nervous system’s role in building capacity. Then we (L)everage your menstrual cycle to work with you, not against you. All while (O)ptimizing nutrition to support hormonal balance and overall well-being. As well as (W)ork it! Find enjoyable and sustainable forms of physical activity.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Two years into my health journey, figuring out life and next steps, I felt very confident about my future endeavors. Then the pandemic started. Although I had a good grasp on maintaining a healthy balance, six months in, I found myself with yet another challenge. While crossing the street, I was hit by a car. It sent me straight to the pavement landing on my bottom. Luckily, it was nothing more than just a fractured tailbone, two slipped discs, and a very sore body. I was grateful it was nothing more, but immediately my mind went straight to “Will this accident set me back from working out? It did for a few months. I had physical therapy on some days, and on other days, I saw my chiropractor. By the second month, I was working with a personal trainer via Zoom. But I had to start all over. My strength was there, but my glutes, feeling the brunt of the accident, had suffered some muscle weakness, which later turned into lower back pain. I could no longer run, jump-squat, or just jump. I had to learn how to focus on select muscle groups. I had to lose the fear of jumping. I remember after four months of training, I attempted a jump squat and cried. For the first time, it didn’t hurt to do so. I felt “normal” again. I could’ve easily given up and “figured it out” on my own. Except this time, I knew better; I knew I needed to ask for professional help. I understood my body and knew what actions to take to help it heal. More importantly, I knew that my body could heal itself because I had already proven to myself that I could.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
Carbs are not bad for you! I was told to try a Keto diet when I started my health journey, and it worked! I lost weight, I looked and felt great, and most importantly, I had my period every month. Why would I change that? However, being Mexican, I knew this wasn’t sustainable. I was missing out on my cultural foods. I missed it. Not to mention the struggle of what I would eat when I went to Mexico. After five months, I decided to slowly introduce carbs back. I was hesitant until I realized my body was telling me the amount of carbs I needed. I understood; I just needed a well-balanced plate to keep up with the progress I had already accomplished. Since then, I have vowed never to let go of my cultural foods. Instead, I strive for balance both on my plate and off.
