We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Luke Wilker a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Luke, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the toughest things about progressing in a creative career or as an entrepreneur is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
probably the most unexpected problem would have to be when a McLaren was hit by a drunk driver during a video shoot in 2025. back in 2024 i ended up getting a group of 6 McLaren drivers together for a video shoot. everything ended up going extremely well so we decided to do it again. in 2025 we got the group back together again but this time we had 12 McLaren’s and were ready for the biggest shoot yet. things were going very smooth on the drive to our fist stop but that’s where everything went terribly. well we were all lined up waiting to turn onto the highway a car turns into the opposite lane of us and ends up swerving into one of the McLaren’s. the person that hit the McLaren ended up trying to run but one of the other McLaren’s on the shoot fliped around and chased her down. at the end o the day the drunk driver who hit and ran was arrested and went to jail for 30 days, we had a lot of confused police surrounded by 12 McLaren’s, and the McLaren that was hit is almost fixed up and back on the road. this just goes to show no mater how much you plan in advance there are some things you cant plan for.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
well I mostly focus on automotive work i do a little bit of everything. I do a lot of personal content on social media with Instagram, YouTube, and tiktok where i make cinematics, informative videos, and vlogs. on the business side of this i both manage peoples social medias and film stuff for people as well. from cinematics with cars to real-estate or anything you can think of as well as editing content for people for their social media pages. a lot of business owners lack the outreach that public fee social media accounts can bring you weather that’s because they are busy or just don’t understand how it all works which is where i come in. i solve that problem with my experience with social media which I use to make content for them and post it out properly to get them maximum outreach without paying for any kind of adds.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I’ve been making content on social media for about 3 years now but the best way I’ve grown my audience and built a following has to be being physically active in whatever scene your making content in. i have really only been able to grow as much as i have because of going to events and connecting with people. get your name out there and make good engaging content and the rest will come with time.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
the best way i have found to gain clientele when just starting is do work for free. for the first 2 years i would do video shoots and stuff for people for free which allowed me to grow my connections into many different fields. even now when working with a new client at times i will offer my services for free for a specific amount of time to show that the service is worth there time and money. having confidence in what you can provide is key to growing your clientele and getting your name out there.
