We recently connected with Luke Steinke and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Luke, thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project we have worked on is our upcoming EP we will be releasing this Spring! Our first 3 singles have been a culmination of songs we wrote while attending Belmont University – showcasing them at our campus pop/rock showcase. This next EP will be a collection of completely new songs. We have been recording at professional studios, have been working hard to make every moment pop – we really feel good about them!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Dry Campus is an indie Southern rock band based in Nashville Tennessee. We have a fresh take on bluesy southern rock, adding in sounds similar to that of “Mt. Joy” and “The Brook and the Bluff.” You can catch all 4 members playing and singing funky breaks and harmonic choruses, often during the same song.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our group chat on Snapchat reads: “Bonnaroo or Bust” and that pretty well sums it up. Being able to play festivals – contributing to people’s good time on a big stage – is all we can ask for.
How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
Just recently, our keyboardist had to leave the band, moving and getting married and we are very excited for her! We have had to reshape our sound and narrow our focus as to how we want to move forward. We have been even stronger now with everyone having the same mission and goal.
