We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Luke Jensen a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Luke, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
When I was 23 my father died. It was on a Tuesday, August 21, 2007. My father was my hero. As he took his last breathe, in the hospital bed, I stood right next to him. Something made me look up, I looked around, the room was filled with family and friends. They were all embracing each other, and it gave me a deep sense of pride, plus an awakening seeing the impact that my father had on the people in the room.
That moment always stayed with me as a blueprint of what it meant to be a Heroic Father.
This began my search on how to answer these two questions: 1) How can I be Heroic in my own life? 2) How can I leave a path others can follow?
So I started down the path of self development and I attend seminars, read 100s of books, listening to audios. I did whatever it took to become a better version of my self. Fast forward 4 years I became a young father, a husband to my high school sweetheart and business owner. Trying to manage all of this at once, I got a real life experience of the challenges, and battles a father goes through.
I discovered through much pain and heart ache, in order to unlock my heroic potential as a father, husband and business owner I needed a new identity, a Heroic Identity. So I created a 7 week Bootcamp for myself and I focused on this formula: intention+ immersion+ intensity= New Identity.
I knew that if I hyper focused on certain areas of my life with intensity that I would get the results I wanted, and in a short period of time that radically shifted my spirit and mindset. Intentional Living, I hyper focused on one area of my life, which was business, and created daily and weekly routine that I followed for 7 weeks. Immersion, I surrounded myself with other like minded fathers, who were on the same path as myself, wanting to become more for their family and dedicated to growing their mission driven business. Intensity, for anything to shift, it must be intense. I worked out for 45 minutes every single day, so I can become physically fit and emotionally fit. after 7 weeks I felt like a new man. I felt like I was realizing my Heroic Potential.
As the weeks went and people began to notice my body transforming and my performance improving they began to ask me what i was doing? I thought if this worked so well for me, maybe I could coach other fathers to do the same. So I started to coach with some close friends and family members. In just 7 weeks they made tremendous strides in business and great results with their fitness. As time went on, I did it with more people. Until I decided to turn it into a business.
I truly believe that being a Fatherpreneur is a 24/7 365 grind it out sport. And as Fatherpreneurs we need to train our body, mind, and spirit to perform at the highest level in our sport. Coaching 100s of fathers i’ve found there are common threads every father battles with. In every father there are two people The Beast and The Hero. And each lives in cycles. The Beast lives in a cycle of Ego, Story, Attachment, and Isolation. The Hero lives in a cycle Strength, Courage, Respect, and Victory.
Everyday can be a battle and in my 7 week program I coach Fatherpreneurs to unlock your Heroic Potential and win the battle.
Luke, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Luke Jensen I am a father of 2 boys Noah 11 and Carter 9. I met my wife Victoria Jensen when we were 14 years old and have been together for 24 years. I am a Fatherpreneur and own a coaching business called The Heroic Father. Theheroicfather.com Where I coach Fatherpreneurs to unlock their heroic potential in 7 weeks. I created this coaching business for many reason however the most important being to help Fathers realize their power and to be the true leader they know they truly are and their family deserves. In the world of a Fatherpreneur their are 7 specific areas that are the most impactful and in our community of Fathers we focus on unlocking our Heroic Potential in each. Heroic Marriage, Raising Champions, Business Trajectory, T.E.A.M, Fortitude in Adversity, Father Figure, Legendary Impact.
It brings me a deep sense of pride to see Fatherpreneurs create the time out of their busy lives to invest in themselves and improve themselves. Fathers have major breakthroughs in many areas from strengthening their relationship with their Wife, to getting into the best shape of their life, to following the 7 week routine game plan and gaining control over their business and personal life. To making more meaningful moments with their children. And much more.
For more than 16 years, I’ve obsessed over finding the answers to the questions, “How can I be Heroic in my own life”? How can leave a path others can follow?” And in the process of reading hundreds of books, attending seminars, and being coached myself, I’ve learned how to maximize our personal growth so we can achieve personal mastery and a life well-lived which I’ve put together is a strategic process I call The Heroic Father. In this process, you’ll start a path of unlocking your Heroic Potential.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
This Heroic Father thing all started by watching my Hero pass away. What I realized is the everyone has a battle. We have a saying in The Heroic Father “The Hero was once the weakest person in the room”
Everyone has a battle, and it doesn’t necessarily need to be one of devastation or
desperation. Maybe you’re spending too much time at work and not enough time with
your family, or you could be getting plenty of family time, with no clear direction for your
career. Physical health is probably the most common battle for fathers. While the world
has become more embracing of the “dad bod,” whether it’s actually attractive or healthy
is questionable at best. Comparing yourself to others is another big one (especially if
you have a dad bod and they don’t).
Whatever it may be, the battle is where your journey begins. You’re stressed,
depressed, or simply not content. You want more for your kids, your family, and
yourself. You want to go from struggling to strong; flab to flex; good to great; great to
heroic.
What are you fighting for? What drives you? What’s most important in your life?
Identifying your battle is a series of soul-searching questions. Don’t be afraid of it and
don’t be ashamed by it. You need that battle for motivation to get up and go be better.
Humanity’s number one job is to evolve. The battle activates your desire for your
own evolution, which naturally influences and impacts those close to you as a father
figure.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
The biggest lesson I had to unlearn was trying to be everything for everyone. My coaching experience I have learned so much. I have multiple certifications from (CTI) Coaches training Institute and NLP Nuero Linguistic Programming and I had the privilege be a Top Coach for the #1 Peak Performance coach in the worldTony Robbins. I feel like I can serve anyone at anytime. However I realized while going down that path can be fun and excited it just wasn’t me.
I found my coaching strength by hyper focusing a very specific group of men. Fatherpreneurs, a Fatherpreneur is a father who makes a living from his skillset, who is actively participating in his kids lives, and a father who is looking for the edge in life. When I started to solely coach group I was able to add more value and brand my business.
