We were lucky to catch up with Lukás Connor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lukás, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The current catalogue of music I’m working on, definitely. I used to make rap and hip-hop but in the last 8 months I have transitioned into punk/pop/rock and it has been so freeing to make music that is so genuine and true to myself. I can’t wait to share what I’ve been working on as I feel it is the most vulnerable version of myself.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I found myself as a college athlete in need of a hobby to keep me away from temptations outside the classroom such as partying etc so I delved into music. I began writing to beats on youtube, short rap verses etc. Which progressed into fully fledged songs with hooks of some kind and culminating in me performing at The Masquerade in Atlanta in the summer of 2016. From there I continued honing my writing and production skills while trying to master engineering my music (mixing and mastering etc). I moved to LA in 2018 to attend Musicians Institute where I completed the Independent Artist Program. Since then I have been working on my catalogue of music and in the last 8 months I have shifted from hip hop/rap to pop punk/rock and am now performing in LA with them to showcase my unreleased music. I feel the music I make is a combination of old and new influences, with melodies from punk and trap music being infused with classic rock and pop production with touches of contemporary trends too. I really want listeners and potential fans to feel a connection to my story in the music I release, therefore I try and write as autobiographically as possible. I hope that listeners and future fans can find an array of emotions and stories to relate to in my catalogue.
Alright – so here’s a fun one. What do you think about NFTs?
I think these can be a game changer for the independent artist. They can be used as a form of crowd funding while allowing the fans to retain a portion of the rewards when success finally comes the artists way. Additionally, fans having an investment in the artist is only going to encourage them to help promote and grow the artist further, as they will benefit too.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing the impact my music can have on people. Having the ability to make music that makes people feel emotions in their rawest form is exhilarating and something that truly drives me to make more and perform more. I am enchanted when I am told that people either cried or broke into a huge smile when listening to my music as I know I achieved that feeling of euphoria/joy or sadness within them through my music.
