We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Luisny Constant. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Luisny below.
Luisny, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with the name CrownedQueen by Lu after going through a period in my life where I needed a reminder to wear my crown and not give up. I had just started a new 9-5 and was going through a lot of changes personally in regards to relationships and mentally. At that point in my life, I leaned heavily on my faith and trust in Jesus. I was reminded that I mattered, I’m a Queen, I’m loved, and to wear my crown with my head held high up to the heavens. Ever since I was a child, I always liked putting things together and making them my own. Once I started diving deeper into the craft world and receiving orders/feedback I wanted to do more. I knew I wanted to reach individuals just like me who needed a reminder that they too mattered, and they too are loved. I decided to continue to use my gift and with each order I received I would spread a little bit of Jesus with a phrase or bible verse on each thank you card. I do believe that CrownedQueen was birthed at the perfect time in my life. Any sooner, and I would not have put much thought or effort into it. Any later, and I might have completely missed the opportunity.

Luisny, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in Immokalee FL. A small town in south/central Florida. I started CrownedQueen by Lu winter 2019.
CrownedQueen by Lu services include but are not limited to faith-based attire, personalized gift boxes, personalized shirts, slippers, mugs, wine glasses, sweaters/hoodies, and baby gifts.

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
Savings! I started CrownedQueen by Lu with $400 from my savings. It absolutely took me a long time to actually step out on faith and start because of funding but once I faced my fear it was only up from there.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That work is more important than self-care. I’m such a workaholic that I sometimes neglect or forget to take time out for myself until I would find myself taking out my frustrations on those I love. I’m grateful to have such caring friends and family who would constantly remind me to take time for myself away from work to refocus, regroup, and recenter myself.
Those times when I do step away, I’m able to give my best self to my family, friends, and customers.
