We were lucky to catch up with Luisa Jimenez recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Luisa, thanks for joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
I came up with Executive Lulu about 3 and a half years ago when I was sitting thinking that I needed a name that fit me and what I did. I felt that coming up with a solid name was important, one that fit the brand of my business and I played around with a few and I just loved how Executive Lulu sounded. Executive shows my professional side while Lulu fits my fun and sweet side.

Luisa, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
Well, in case you don’t know me, I’m Lulu! The owner of Executive Lulu. I am a Executive Virtual Assistant that helps business owners get organized within their business by helping them with day to day tasks such as admin, social media and project management. I have been doing this for the past 4 years now and don’t plan to stop anytime soon as this all genuinely fulfills me. I truly feel I have found my Ikigai career wise. I feel content everyday logging on and doing work that just flows naturally as I do it. Seeing my clients happy with my work and helping them reach their goals is another bonus! I feel most proud when they express this to me in some form.
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
The last time I was interviewed I was juggling a variety of clients, and returning from taking a break from the summer to focus on my health. As well as handling a team. However, things have changed since then. I finally have my health under control, and I am once again solo in my business. I had a business shift right before I took a trip this past November with an opportunity that presented itself. An opportunity that I did not want to pass, as I knew it was what I was looking for. Before we get into the details, let’s run over the backstory on what I was reflecting on before this shift took place. I was thinking about how I loved my work, but the one thing I did not love was the marketing/promoting of it. As we all know, marketing a business is essential to getting clients, however, it’s also time consuming. So I told myself, if I could just find work where the clients are given to me or just come on their own I would love that. And that is the exact opportunity that presented itself. The best part? It’s work that I love doing! Unfortunately, that meant dissolving my agency to it just being me, but I wasn’t afraid. I knew this meant me being happy with my business and work again!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
So with this new sub-contract opportunity, I am not only able to continue working remotely, and with clients, I don’t have to worry about marketing! Which is a huge sigh of relief. I am happy that I kept my resilience as I was thinking seriously at one point if I should pause or quit my business because I was feeling burnt out at that point. Then I reflected on what would make me happy, came up with solutions and wala! An opportunity came knocking. The lesson here is if some thing feels off and not the same as before, reflect on it before you make a drastic decision. So now I am here, still as an Executive Virtual Assistant doing work that I absolutely love and working with the best clients in the world. This has been the best decision of the year so far, and I am ready to see what the future entails for Executive Lulu!
