We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Luis Gonzalez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Luis below.
Luis, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am hoping to build a legacy that outlives me especially after I am gone because our time on earth is limited and I don’t want to waste the privileged time that I’ve been given I hope to be an inspiration to other people with physical limitations or disabilities just like myself.
I think people will say that I was someone who never gave up despite all of the challenges I had to overcome in my life and that they will look beyond all of the numbers and achievements and remember me as one of the kindest souls with the biggest heart.
I want to be remembered for not only having a following in the horror genre community but also for being someone who’s paving a path for other people who aspire to become content creators on social media platforms and run their own businesses.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For people who don’t know me my name is Luis Gonzalez and I was born with Cerebral Palsy I am required to use a wheelchair when I leave my house and my birthday is on Halloween and I will be turning 26 this year [2023} I make reaction videos and coverage on the Chucky Killer doll franchise on youtube and Instagram but I also livestream videogame walkthroughs on Trovo.
how I got into my craft: I have always had a love for the horror genre of movies and TV shows because I love the special effects and visuals because of the fact that I knew nothing was real but Chucky has always had a special place in my heart because of his human-like characteristics and humor and I started doing reaction videos to movie trailers because of my love and respect for the film industry as a whole.
I want potential fans and followers to gain value from my content whether it is laughing and getting spooked by one of my horror edits or hearing opinions or facts on a movie or show that hasn’t yet been said by someone else. and for them to know that having a disability doesn’t mean that they can’t follow their dreams and do whatever it is that makes them happy.
How did you build your audience on social media?
building my audience on social media wasn’t easy because I had to really find a niche that best worked for me It took me four years to grow my Instagram and YouTube channel it did not happen overnight and it required a lot of financial investment as well as help from my family and friends who support me in order to get started doing what I do everyday.
As for the advice I would give anyone trying to build their own social media presence is to just post and make the type of content that makes them happy and the rest will slowly follow as long as they never give up because it’s the greatest and most realistic superpower to have in real life and to start their career using the greatest resource we have in our pocket nowadays The Smart Phone whether it’s an Android or iPhone doesn’t matter as long as it has a good camera for videos.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategy I personally use to grow my clientele is different video formats across multiple social media platforms like Reels on Instagram and Shorts on my YouTube channel.
