Family businesses thrive on trust and shared vision. At Filardo Realty, my mom’s 15 years of expertise combined with my focus on tech keeps us strong, while Tropical Luxe, co-founded with a partner from Peru, focuses on Airbnb rentals.
However, family businesses aren’t without challenges. When family dynamics blend into business, there’s potential for tension if roles aren’t clear or communication isn’t open. Setting professional and personal boundaries has been key for us to navigate any pitfalls, keeping respect and understanding central to our partnership.
If my kids choose to join someday, I’d welcome it if they’re truly passionate. For me, each generation should honor the foundation while bringing something new.
Luis , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Luis Almario, co-founder of Filardo Realty and Filardo Construction, LEM Development, and Tropical Luxe. I ventured into the business world at 16, driven by a passion for real estate and a commitment to making a difference, especially for foreign investors who might face unique challenges in the U.S. Together with my mom, who has 15 years of experience in real estate, we established Filardo Realty to guide foreign investors, particularly minorities, in navigating the South Florida market and growing wealth through strategic investments.
Filardo Realty sets itself apart with a comprehensive approach as a one-stop solution for our clients, handling everything from market analysis to closing. We’re proud of how we’ve built credibility and trust, ensuring our clients feel secure investing in properties they may have never physically seen. Tropical Luxe, co-founded with a partner from Peru, complements our work by focusing on Airbnb rentals, offering clients unique investment opportunities in the vacation rental space.
Our goal is to bridge the gap for international investors and support them with a blend of experience, innovation, and transparency. We’re dedicated to helping them grow their portfolios, expand into Latin America, and build wealth. What I’m most proud of is our perseverance. What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
uilding a strong reputation has been about trust, transparency, and a shared journey. At Filardo Realty, we don’t just guide our clients through transactions; we stand beside them, understanding their goals and challenges because we’ve been there too.
As Latinos and immigrants, we’ve faced the same uphill battles that many of our clients experience. We’re here to help them grow their wealth confidently, sidestepping the pitfalls we encountered. It’s incredibly rewarding to turn our experiences into a pathway for others to succeed, building their dreams on a foundation of trust, shared values, and resilience.
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing our clientele has been a combination of trust-building, digital engagement, and strategic partnerships. Word-of-mouth has been incredibly powerful for us, especially within the Latino community and among foreign investors who know we genuinely understand their journey.
Partnering with a trusted partner from Peru has also expanded our reach significantly, opening doors to new markets with tremendous potential. Through this partnership, we’ve connected with potential clients in Peru and beyond, tapping into networks that broaden our influence and align with our mission. By combining trust, consistent communication, and global connections, we’re able to offer our clients an even stronger foundation and wider opportunities.
