We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Luhren a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Luhren, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I’ve always known I wanted to be an artist. I remember being a kid growing up going to high school and telling the adults around me I wanted to pursue art, I remember them telling me that I need to be more practical to pick a real job because you’ll always be struggling. I refuse to accept that as an answer for my goals and my dreams and 15 years later I’m still actively pursuing my creative ambitions. I believe that I’m supposed to use my creative thought process to do something bigger than myself, what that thing is? I have no clue I’m just enjoying the process and learning everything I can along the way.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m an artist who loves business. I love stretching out the status quo and seeing what’s possible and what’s impossible. I started out as a visual artist doing photography and then videography which then led me to content creation. Which then led me to print making, graphic design, and all the while I was always practicing my guitar writing a new song or coming up with new melodies. If I’m being honest music is my truest passion it is what I’ve always envisioned myself doing. The creative bug that lives inside of me had to come out one way or another so I became a jack of all trades. A part of me feels like I tapped into other trades because my music dream seems so far away. Now as I get older and realize how fragile life is I have decided to go after and pursue that dream of being a musician.
I don’t want to shortchange my past experience as a musician and those other fields, it has taught me a lot about branding, marketing, how to reach out to an audience and build a fan base. I can also essentially create all my own merch which saves me a lot of money and time and effort. I also use my graphic design and printmaking skills to move up the corporate ladder so not only am I able to be a working professional in the art career field I’m also able to now use that to build my music and my fan base and my brand surrounding me as a musician and that is what I’m excited about.
It’s weird it’s like I’m a artist but I’m also an entrepreneur. To me being an entrepreneur and running a business is as much of an art form as picking up a guitar or writing a song or painting a pretty picture. It all goes hand in hand and I’m just in it for the ride at this point.
We’d love to hear your thoughts on NFTs. (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
Has a visual artist myself I always thought nfts were a scam. I never understood why we needed digital art when digital art already exists?

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Taking something that I envisioned in my head and then making it reality. Then while your creation is out in the world it’s even cooler when other people, strangers gravitate and can relate to the thought that just randomly popped up in your head one day.
