Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lucy Rivera. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lucy, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
My journey into entrepreneurship was truly a process of discovery. I’ve always known that I wanted to make a meaningful impact in people’s lives, but working in a corporate environment was never my calling. It just didn’t align with the future I envisioned for myself. So, I started by offering tarot readings and a range of spiritual products aimed at helping others on their personal growth journeys. As I deepened my own understanding of holistic health, healing, and natural living, my business began to evolve.
Then came a turning point during the height of the Covid pandemic, when I gave birth. My experience with the hospital system was anything but positive, and it made me question everything about the way we approach childbirth as women. That experience reshaped my perspective and led me to birthwork, where I found my true purpose. I combined what I had learned from my spiritual practices with my passion for holistic living and began creating personalized birth experiences that empower women to take control of their births. As a holistic doula, I’m committed to helping women keep their birth process as natural as possible. I primarily work with homebirth clients and those aiming for unmedicated hospital births. Along with emotional and physical support, I provide herbal teas, tinctures, and capsules for clients who prefer to avoid pharmaceutical interventions during pregnancy. My care doesn’t stop after birth; I offer 24/7 support up to a year postpartum, ensuring my clients have the guidance they need during one of the most vulnerable times of their lives.
As for my life coaching, it was something I didn’t even realize I had been doing for years. I focus on helping people heal from childhood traumas and unlock their full potential through mindfulness practices and holistic health changes. It’s all about creating space for healing and self-growth.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
First, I want to express my gratitude for the opportunity to be featured – hello to all the readers! I’m Lucy Luminary, the owner of Lucy Luminary Wellness and Coaching Services. I’m 33, a wife, mother of nine, and an entrepreneur. For the past 6.5 years, I’ve been chasing my dreams as a business owner, and I genuinely love the life I’ve created. But before I embarked on this journey, I was actually driving semi-trucks for a living. That chapter of my life turned out to be a pivotal one. Spending weeks on the road, alone with my thoughts, gave me the space I needed for deep self-reflection. It was during that time that I began my path toward spiritual growth and discovery.
I realized that for years, I had been focused solely on raising my children—since I was 16, in fact. But being out on the road gave me the solitude to reconnect with myself, and that shift in perspective allowed me to see what I truly needed to be happy. That introspection was the foundation for everything I’ve manifested since.
Now, I’m passionate about helping others heal and reclaim control of their lives. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about it—it’s not about the money for me. This work is from the heart. I believe the world needs more healing, more love, and more positivity, and I strive to offer that energy to every person who seeks out my services.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My journey as a business owner has been a real rollercoaster, filled with incredible highs and some deep lows. I’ve had moments of triumph, but I’ve also hit points where I was ready to walk away from it all.
Before my business became what it is today, I ran a spiritual apothecary called Emerald Empress. I handcrafted herbal remedies, oils, tinctures, candles, salts—anything that could help people on their spiritual paths. It started off very modestly, creating small, personalized packages for those seeking tools to enhance their spiritual journeys. But as the business grew, so did the challenges. Unfortunately, not everyone was supportive. I faced a wave of negativity, and competitors tried to discredit me. Before I knew it, I had lost all of my clients, and within just a year, my apothecary business collapsed.
That was a hard blow. I was on the verge of giving up and returning to the corporate world. But with the unwavering support of my husband and family, I took a step back and did some serious soul-searching. I asked myself what truly fulfilled me, and that’s when I decided to shift my focus. I enrolled in courses to become a full-spectrum doula and deepened my knowledge of herbalism through my own research. This period of self-discovery helped me redefine my goals as an entrepreneur and transform my business model into something more aligned with my purpose.
Since then, I’ve expanded my journey into publishing. I’ve written two children’s books—K’liana’s Dreamland Adventure: Into Sleepy Woods and Rainy Day Enchantment: K’liana’s Imaginary Adventure—as well as a manifestation journal titled Notes to the Universe: 30 Day Manifestation Journal. Soon, I’ll be releasing my newest work, Reclaiming Wholeness: Healing the Inner Child for Vibrant Living. All of my books are available online through Barnes and Noble. It’s been an incredible ride, and I’m excited to see where the next chapter takes me.

We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
My clients are truly the heart and soul of my business. Anyone who’s ever worked with me knows that I stand by my word. As a doula, I’ve traveled hundreds of miles to be by my clients’ sides, even in the most challenging circumstances. When I commit to something, I follow through. I’m open, honest, and transparent with every client, ensuring we build a level of trust that makes them feel comfortable with both the services and products I offer. I pride myself on communicating quickly and efficiently, so no one is left wondering or uncertain.
Life can get pretty hectic, especially as I’m currently pregnant and raising six of our nine children at home. Balancing family and business is a constant challenge, and sometimes I have to postpone things to prioritize my family’s needs. This is where clear communication becomes essential. If I can’t meet a deadline, I always give my clients a heads-up and offer other options that might work better for both of us. It’s about making things work together.
I genuinely love my clients, and in many cases, we build friendships that extend far beyond the business relationship. That’s how I’ve built credibility and loyalty in my brand—through trust, transparency, and a deep, personal connection with the people I serve.
