Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lucy Medrow. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lucy, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Crazy stuff happening is almost as certain as death and taxes – it’s technically “unexpected” but something unexpected happening is to be expected and so can you share a crazy story with our readers
My April 20th Adventure
Picture it! Your favorite cannabis-friendly nurse arrives in Minneapolis Minnesota on April 20th, at 4:20pm, to their sun-filled home rental. It’s just starting to softly rain, and as I finish bringing stuff inside, it starts to rain harder.
Next step: food.
There’s nothing better than soup on a rainy day, right?!? So I jump on Google to explore best soup options in Minneapolis. A 4.4 star rated restaurant, with over 2.4K reviews. Even some reviews mentioning how great the soup was, how amazing! Oh, and the fries and Brussel Sprouts look great too! Ordered.
Next step: Organize supplies for the 2-day psychedelic cannabis client, and finalize the 2-Day Enjoy Your Stay gift package.
In an hour, I was eating my ordered food. And the Brussel Sprouts. Ugh! Let me tell you… they were delicious! I ate the most of them. After eating, and prepping for the upcoming 2-day client, I was off to bed. It was less than 8 hours later when the food poisoning started.
Heart-felt reminders from your sweet, business owner, nurse friend:
– Know the symptoms of food poisoning, especially when to seek help and how to prevent food poisoning.
– Talk to your primary care provider before taking any anti-nausea or anti-diarrhea medication.
– Be honest with what’s happening with your body. Communicate that effectively. Cancel plans, ask for help, etc…
– Fun fact: the 2-Day Enjoy Your Stay gift package contains many of the same things to help recover from food poisoning.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
In 2024, I celebrated Honey of the Heart Coaching’s 5th year anniversary. To celebrate, I created a Patreon page. It was something on my radar as a business owner who loves supporting community.
I wanted a low-cost, easily accessible way for people to keep health top of mind in a fun and lighthearted way. Also, on a personal level, I consider myself a life long learner who believes in periods of conscious rest & rejuvenation. I share this because throughout the years with Honey of the Heart Coaching, I could feel the nudge to make this a business value as well. Creating the Patreon page aligned these things beautifully. It’s helped me grow and see the value of batching work for periods of rest. And to celebrate milestones, like the one that I am writing this as I celebrate the Patreon’s 1 year anniversary.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My journey to Honey of the Heart Coaching displays resilience. Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. I used to joke that it “runs in the blood” as my mom and grandma were both nurses.
When I graduated high school my eyes were set on getting my nursing degree. During school and even after I graduated, I worked on a medical/surgical floor at a local hospital. It provided me the opportunity to learn in-depth about the body (e.g. surgery/recovery, disease process/progression, end-of-life care, etc…) as well as the emotional and support system of each individual. It was here I quickly realized we are more than our medical diagnoses.
Me relocating in 2014 inspired me to look at the nursing field from a different viewpoint – the clinic setting. I started working in Urgent Care, and it opened the doors to working with patients of all ages and stages in life. This is where I learned more about preventive medicine, and how taking care of yourself now can set you up in the future.
It inspired me to evaluate my own life and health. I was suffering from insomnia, jaw pain, headaches, and panic attacks. It impacted how I lived and showed up in the world. I followed my curiosities which led me to evaluate everything in my life (e.g. health choices, friendships, where I was living, etc…) and try things like acupuncture, yoga, reiki, and meditation. What I found was that these symptoms were a root cause of something bigger, and I wasn’t listening to what my body was trying to tell me.
I’ve learned and received such healing benefits from both eastern and western medicine. I knew deep in my bones that I wanted to offer the blend of the two. But how? That was when I found nurse coaching and how Honey of the Heart Coaching was born.
This is the journey that has led me here to you today. And if you have read this far, I truly and sincerely appreciate you. May you follow your hunches, curiosities, and the things that bring you joy whether they be big or small. Life’s too short not to enjoy the sweetness of your heart 💛
