We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lucy Gebert a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lucy , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
The first time I knew I wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally was when I transferred to University of North Texas and enrolled in UNT’s college of visual arts and design. I studied graphic design for a little bit but then took a different path with interdisciplinary art and design & studies.

Lucy , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a senior at University of North Texas about to finally graduate in the fall with my bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Art & Design studies. I work in black and grey and I focus on realism and portraiture.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
I suffered a head trauma that put my life on hold for a short time. I’m thankful to not have suffered any brain damage though I’d have some struggles with PTSD. While recovering I quickly got back to back to drawing and working on black and grey portraits and studying/tracing tattoo flash. After I started getting more tattooed a couple of years ago I fell in love with tattooing and my dream is to be a black and grey tattooer.

: Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
One of my main goals is always constantly improve my technique and skill with my art work. My dream is to be a black and white tattooer. I’m constantly drawing, studying tattoo books and learning how to draw tattoo flash.
