We were lucky to catch up with Lucy Bolden recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lucy thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
I believe first defining what your personal, well defined concept of success is, is extremely important. Understanding what you would like to achieve is key, in goal setting and moving in the direction of success. Success for me, is defined as balance between work and personal, sacrifice and consistency. Success takes sacrifice- what are you willing to give up to learn or grow in your field of passion? Success takes consistency, showing up for your business, yourself and family in all areas. Success also takes balance, you have to understand that some days success can be measured in the small, quiet steps towards your goal and other days success is major, undeniable seen. Being patient, and making efforts- whether major or quiet towards your goals is how I define success.
Lucy, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I started my entrepreneurial journey from the love of creating for my kids, celebrating their birthdays, their accomplishments and memorable firsts. I loved creating special details for them from clothing to cake toppers and turned this love into a service for others.
Today, I create elegant, inspired and theme perfect items crafted with passion and care. I create event signage, such as acrylic menus, bar signage, invitations, drink charms, dessert toppers, acrylic card boxes, custom guestbooks and more to help my clients elevate their events.
My products and services eliminate the stress, time and effort required to create flawless event details. I enable my customers to rest assured their event is elevated and transformed to an unforgettable experience. I create with acrylic, wood, paper and apparel products to ensure the highest level of detail is captured and enjoyed by my customers, their guests, family, friends or community.
I am unique in my field as I can create with multiple mediums -to fully enhance any event, at any price point to meet the vision of my customers.
I am the most proud that I have repeat customers. It’s absolutely an honor to know that I have fostered trust and faith with my customer base that I can deliver products or services that ensure their vision is captured. I want people to know that each order is an opportunity for me to pour into my craft and love of creating. I love the exchange of ideas with my customers, the creative process and final results!
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
I think being a creative, your mind is automatically looking to constantly think outside the box, push the limits and live freely within a creative space. Thinking outside the box and chasing a creative passion equates to seeing things differently, moving differently than others, not following the popular, safe. normal life path. Being creatively motivated can set you apart from others, you intuitively are not bound by the same train of thought and it’s not always received well. And it’s ok!! Challenge yourself to follow your passion, invest in yourself-learn all you can, whenever you can about what makes you happy. By doing so, you naturally will align with people who are like minded, as motivated and cheer louder for you than you could ever imagine!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is the process of bringing my client’s vision to life, and then seeing the impact of what I created has on my client, and their guests.
