Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lucila (lux) Villarreal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lucila (Lux), thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
As a creative with a small business and a 9-to-5, I know firsthand how difficult it is to balance financial survival with pursuing a passion. But in the grand scheme of things, there are far greater struggles happening in the world. In the U.S. alone, rights are being stripped away, families are being torn apart, fires consume, and the universe itself feels like it’s gasping for air. Just recently, my right to legally identify as nonbinary, my authentic self, was taken away. The only true job I have, to stay authentic. Taken away.
With all of this happening, the fact that I even have the space to create, to express myself, and to dream of making this my lifeline one day is something I don’t take for granted. Yes, the path is challenging, but I never want to lose sight of the bigger picture. I create not just for myself, but to bring light, to connect, and to offer something meaningful in a world that feels so heavy. If I can keep showing up—for my art, for my community, for those who need to feel seen—then I know I’m moving in the right direction, and that’s what makes me happy.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My journey as an artist and founder of Officially ME LLC has been one of self-discovery, resilience, and embracing authenticity. Growing up in a conservative household in rural Arizona, I often struggled to find my voice and my place in the world. It wasn’t until I began to explore my creativity and accept my identity as a nonbinary, queer individual that I truly understood the power of stepping into my truth. For years, I followed a conventional path—going to college, earning a degree, and working in stable roles—but something was missing. Music had always been my refuge, and eventually, I picked up my guitar and took a leap of faith to pursue it wholeheartedly.
Officially ME LLC was born from that decision—a production company where I can not only create music but also provide a platform for other artists to share their stories. At its core, my work is about connection: creating spaces where people feel seen, heard, and celebrated for who they are. Whether through music, collaborating with local creatives, or releasing projects like TO: Myself and Pillow Queen, this journey has shown me that embracing vulnerability and community is what makes the work truly meaningful. Officially ME LLC stands as a testament to the belief that when we follow our passions and stay true to ourselves, we find purpose and create something that has the power to inspire and uplift others.

How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
The most important and meaningful way to support artists and creatives is to simply be a part of their movement. As a creative, what makes this path so captivating is the impact we can have on others just by being our authentic selves. When someone truly resonates with a piece that we’ve poured our soul, energy, and time into, their support means everything.
Showing up to performances, sharing and engaging with content, making that one song a part of your daily life—whether it’s the song that wakes you up in the morning, the track in your ultimate shower playlist, or even creating a dance to it—these are the ways that truly make a difference. Spreading that creative footprint in any way possible helps build a thriving ecosystem where artists feel valued and seen.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is seeing the creative footprint of my own actions—the way my work resonates with others and becomes part of their lives. It’s an incredible feeling to witness something that was once just a spark in my mind evolve into a tangible reality. Whether it’s a song, a performance, or a collaborative project, bringing an idea to life and seeing it impact others is what makes being a creative so fulfilling.
