We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Luciana Tucciarella a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Luciana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s the backstory behind how you came up with the idea for your business?
I origanly went to my mom asking her questions about becoming an entrepreneur. She started by telling me that I needed to come up with an idea first. I started thinking about what I enjoy doing. I love to be in the kitchen, whether it’s cooking or baking, but I also love to be creative. Then I saw the trending cookie on Pinterest is chocolate covered oreos. Who doesn’t love oreos?? I am also a dancer, and my dance friends and mentors call me “lu,” and my middle name is Rose. Voila, lu Rose cookies was born. Right now i offer custom designed cookies for any occasion. I am currently in the testing phase to sart shipping. More to come on that!
I also want my customers and followers to know that my business is non-profit. Every single penny that I earn selling cookies goes straight to furthering my dance career. Dancing is my passion. I dance as often as I can. I appreciate all of the business and connections I have made in the past 3 months. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for lu Rose cookies. I hope you come along for the journey!!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
In March of 2023, my Mom and I were talking. All of a sudden, I brought up the idea of creating our a business. We immediately started brainstorming ideas and found the perfect one. We decided that we would create a small business called “Lu Rose Cookies” that would sell chocolate covered oreos. The reason I wanted to create the business was solely for one reason, my dance career. I am a dancer. This sport is very intense and very expensive. Since I knew how expensive dance was, I wanted to help out with the payments. When making cookies, we were able to make the money that could pay for dance.
My cookies are chic and carfully designed. Each one is made with the intention to sell. I provide cookies for any occasion. You simply tell me what you would like the theme to be, and I create based around the designs you choose. I also create cookies for seasonal holidays such as Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s s Day, and so much more! Each of these cookies are hand made and packaged into a pink box.
Creating these cookies helps people obtain a sweet treat to eat or showcase at a party. The good thing about these cookies is not only the sweetness it provides but also the uniquness it provides to your eyes. These cookies are unique since no one in my area sells them. That is also a reason why I decided to sell choclate covered oreos. If you look in my area, you may not see many vendors that sell these cookies. Thats what makes them so unique! Creating this business is a privilege and truly makes me proud of myself. It is amazing to know the good deed that I am doing when selling these cookies. You should know that I am a unique, hard-working young entrepreneur.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my social media audience by creating an Instagram and Facebook page. I put a short description in my biography and created a profile picture. My first couple of posts were pictures of the first cookies I made. I realized that to maintain a social media, I needed to post often. So that is what I did! I started posting kore stories and updates on my journey. I posted about three stories and one post per day. This helps me gain and maintain my currwnt following. I put myself out on social media, and doing that helped me grow my business. To anyone new, I would recommend consistency, being brave, and putting yourself out there. Be consistent by posting daily content that entertains your viewers. Put yourself out there by sharing your story and posting new/exciting things! Then finally, be brave by contacting people. By contacting others through social media, you can create collaborations with other small businesses and allow them to promote your brand.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A time I show resilience is when my mom and I disagree about something in the business. Me and my mom have two very different minds. My idea of creativity might not be her idea of creativity. When creating the designs for cookies, we have to come up with many ideas. However, we might not agree on what to do. This causes disagreements between us. Instead of walking away, we contribute both of our ideas to create one design. We compromise and stay calm. This shows the resilience I have with being able to figure things out with my mom.
