We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lucia Martino . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lucia below.
Hi Lucia, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
It all started because of the lack of connection that I had with the type of education that exists today. Before I started Little Creative Souls, I always felt in my heart that even with society having changed so drastically, we could still make a difference in our children’s childhood. I wanted to start changing things here. I’m sure everybody agrees that our best memories of childhood happened while in an outdoor environment. Building forts, making mud pies, sleeping under the stars, playing hide and seek, running races, climbing trees etc.
Nowadays, children don’t play like we used to do. When we were kids we would come home from school, go outside and play until the sun came down and dinner was ready. For some reason, that really doesn’t happen anymore…
And that is why I came up with Litte Creative Souls, because t’s time to go back to those times of our childhood, to simplicity, to running, climbing and exploring in the sunshine.
By bringing our memories back we could make this happen. Childhood isn’t about having the best technology, crazy homework, and memorizing concepts. It’s actually the opposite. It’s about simplicity. It is about freedom. Freedom to explore, to find yourself and live the life you want because, after all, they have the right to live our same childhood.

Lucia, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
We are a different kind of school offering programs in the Miami area for children from the ages of 2-6 years old. We are a nature and sensory based program where children get to build their identity, develop their critical and creative thinking and learn life skills on their level.
In our “place of exploration,” (I don’t like to call it school). we truly believe that the path to the mind runs through the body and that’s why our children have the time and the space to explore materials on a larger scale. The freedom to move, instead of being restricted by the size of a table or small sheets of paper. The freedom to pour paint or use their body as a tool to express themselves. Also, children are able to experiment and make their own theories while they are doing what they enjoy the most: PLAY! Giving the children the freedom to follow their own instinct gives them the chance to connect with the real world.
We are basically skipping society’s system and living and learning the way we want…..
How did you build your audience on social media?
I think the best way to build audience is by creating a meaningful human connection with your followers.
What your audience wants is to feel what you do or why you do what you do, that’s why it is important to take them along on the adventure behind the photo so when they read your story, they can feel it as well
Another way to give people a reason to engage is to involve them in the evolution of your brand, sharing the story of your logo, the process, behind the scenes… sharing a real, raw and vulnerable experience helps to connect with your audience on a more personal level.
By doing that, your followers will get to know your brand on a human level that they can relate to. If they feel like they know you, you will have more likely to have their support.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source besides social media has been through the events we do in the city of Miami. In addition to being a school, we also build community through creative events. Our programs help children develop self-expression through art, nature and eco-friendly materials.
We typically offer our program throughout the calendar year Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Mothers days amongst others. In addition to the holidays, we also include special celebrations, birthday parties, mommies and me, gatherings etc.
The depth and intentionality of each event has been a strong source of making the world know about Little Creative Souls in a more beautiful and strong way. In our events, families will never see just a simple piece of paper and a crayon, we will always go one step further to get the best out of every child. Our events have the power to make children thrive and wonder. Our materials are carefully chosen with an intention; what do they look, feel and smell like? Do they come from nature? Can the child connect with the material in some way?
I have noticed how families have shared how unique our events are and this has helped tremendously to make our Little Creative Souls’ family bigger
