Lucero , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We love asking folks what they would do differently if they were starting today – how they would speed up the process, etc. We’d love to hear how you would set everything up if you were to start from step 1 today

I would definitely not book every Saturday, I’d leave at least one Saturday for me and my family to enjoy together

Lucero , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

I’m mother of six great kids, wife to a loving husband, student at Wayne county community college, going for business administration, and a group exercise instructor for the YMCA. I’ve started doing makeup in 2018, professionally, in Detroit.
I originally studied and became a MUA in Houston, Texas.
I followed my passion for makeup and hair styling into the bridal industry as a former bride myself did not have a great experience on my wedding day, and from there it took off, now we’ve done many brides over west Michigan.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?

I honestly was blessed with a great life partner, all though I’ve tried my best to save enough for my own business, my husband backed me up with a big part of the process, he’s always very supportive of my dreams and goals.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

Ofcourse, it was my first year into my business , I was booked every weekend from Friday to Sunday and sometimes even Thursdays! I’ve hired a team of 5 artists and it was going great! Until slowly some started to not show up the day of, called in sick often, and I had to do big bridal parties alone, or with less staff than what was needed, luckily I’ve pulled through. my assistant and I created timelines and a system to get everyone done on time or atleast the most important parties done first.
