We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lucas Stolze a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lucas , appreciate you joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
I believe one of the biggest risks I took in life was to migrate to another country without having anyone to rely on. I moved from Brazil to the U.S. to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue University. After a study abroad program in the U.S. where I spent one year here, I was so fascinated with the country that I decided to move to the U.S. for good and finish my studies. It was a really risky move because I sold everything that I had back home in order to pay for my expenses here until I could land a job and survive on my own means. I was also not fully proficient in the English language, so I had to adapt and learn quickly. I believe moving to the U.S. and facing all the challenges on my own proved to be an amazing growth opportunity for myself. I developed so many skills in a short amount of time and it helped me to transform into the person I am today.

Lucas , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have been an avid gamer and technology enthusiast since I was a kid, and I grew up with the internet and gaming industry around me most of the time. Many of my hobbies where playing consoles or computer games while also understanding the hardware, learning how these games worked and how they would connect people from different geographies and backgrounds. Deciding to partner with the ExitLag co-founders to build the company was an easy decision, since it was in line with my life goals. At ExitLag, we address one of the most frustrating issues online gamers face: lag. By optimizing data routes, our platform ensures seamless connectivity, improved performance, and a more immersive gaming experience. We’re proud to serve gamers from all walks of life—whether you’re casually exploring a new title or competing at a professional level.
What truly sets ExitLag apart is our commitment to innovation, quality and excellence. We believe in offering transparent solutions and forging genuine relationships within our community. Every day, we see how our work impacts millions of players worldwide, and that’s what drives our ambition and passion to keep improving.
Personally, I’m most proud of how far we’ve come, and that our service has become something people can rely on. For me, it’s about pushing boundaries, uplifting the gaming community and constantly finding new ways to innovate. If there’s one thing I want potential clients and fans to know, it’s that we’re here to make your online experience better. We’re excited to continue growing this community together, and I’m always happy to help people learn more about how we’re transforming online gaming—one optimized data route at a time.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I believe there are many different strategies that are helpful when growing a business, all that vary depending on the stage, size and situations the business is facing. The strategies we had when we started the company are very different from the ones we use now to grow the business. Moreover, one of the most successful strategies has been to always stay true to our values. Over the years our company changed, we adapted to different challenges and we faced different problems, but our values remained true to ourselves and guided us to become what we are today. Staying true to our core values helped us create a trusted bond with our clientele that has helped us grow.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
A clear sense of purpose helps everyone navigate through different situations. I think it is really important for leaders to have direct communication about the purpose of any plan or goal. Most of the time, people focus too much on the KPIs they need to hit and forget to tell the team and the people why those numbers matter in the first place. The team needs to understand the meaning behind numbers to keep their moral high, as well as the sentiment of belonging. When you work with a clear purpose people tend to drive themselves.
