Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lucas Iosue. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lucas, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I have been able to earn a full-time living with my creative work. I managed to work “overtime” in order to make the official shift to full-time self-employment. It has been very fulfilling since I have made the transition. For me in my situation, there was no way to have expedited the process, so everything happened in it’s time! I am eternally thankful for my career and my status as self-employed.
Lucas, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Lucas Iosue, I am a producer for an aviation entertainment channel called “ENfLITE Aviation”. We are a start up Youtube Channel, but our long term plans extend well-beyond the platform.
I grew up in Southern California, I used to play tons of sports, and I was consistently involved in my church back in the day. My faith is still very important, as this is what orients me in my day-to-day, and in my professional life.
I offer services that include creative direction, people management, leadership on a production set and all administrative duties therein. I particularly enjoy the editing process once everything has been shot, so I am the type of manager that enjoys being involved at every stage of the production process. I believe in thorough and effective communication. Solving problems for my clients is paramount in my work, and I find it to be a strong suit with regard to people/time management. I am confident in delivering a quality product each and every time, without compromise. I take strong ownership in all projects that I am a part of so there is no sacrifice in that regard.
I am most proud of the work I do with ENfLITE Aviation, I have strong influence in the production of each installment and this empowers me to be a better professional every week, every day.
My production company is called: Iosue Productions

Can you open up about how you funded your business?
This is a great question for individuals in the creative media space – all of our stuff is super expensive!
The answer is sacrifice. In order to get the essential equipment your clients need, you likely have to sacrifice a variety of things you hadn’t considered before. Now, if you don’t have to then I’m not sure why you’d be reading this answer to this irrelevant question!
For those of you considering what to sacrifice, it starts with assessing your lifestyle and seeing how feasible it is to begin cutting things off. It is very difficult if you are the type of person that goes and buys digital assets from your favourite creators each time they drop, or going out every weekend spending money on events that seem popular in your region. Of course these things are fun to do, but what is your goal? Are you willing to sacrifice to achieve them?
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective way to grow your clientele is to be a genuinely good person to everyone. Not just people that are your target clientele.
In detail, yes, reach out to a variety of people and be sure to be intentional about it, but approaching tons of people in a genuine fashion can be emotionally taxing, so be sure to pace yourself. Treat everyone with respect and they will do the same – if they don’t then, oh well, c’est la vie. Developing resilience in this regard is important, you’ll need it when your clients give you feedback;)
All in all, be sure to send out those emails, go to networking events, go into places you are uncomfortable, and be courageous, take chances – if you are in this industry, you are likely to be anyway;)
