We recently connected with Luana Seu and have shared our conversation below.
Luana, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s jump to the end – what do you want to be remembered for?
This question made me a bit emotional. I must admit. Well, I truly think that the porpoise of art is to save lives but there so many alternatives to do that. Artist can have the right influence toward a better tomorrow and that is what I’m dreaming to do as well. To be able to tell stories with impact, photograph communities that deserve attention. For example- I’ve been photographing the gypsy community near the town I grew up for over 7 years now and this is a project that might be a lifetime of photographs and stories. I will never be tired of hearing and sharing their stories. Make it known what these people are going through and when help is asked – there is enough documentation to show the reality.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My work focuses on creating “worlds” based upon allegorical themes that include a diversity of subjects, stories, and cultural backgrounds. I aim to establish a deeply interpersonal and collaborative process of dynamic and cinematically-inspired stories with any type of client.
My responsibility as an artist is to empower and encourage people to be who they are.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I can’t imagine doing this profession without the people I create with on the personal projects. I feel blessed to have met such talented artists along the way and that is my confirmation to keep going. Always search for different ways to express the fantasy in my mind.
I know that these projects couldn’t be done without the understanding and dedication of my ,now, friends. Almost everyone in my life created with me at least once because I understood, since I started working professionally, that the purity of art is in the purity of your relationships with others. The common desire to create something meaningful.

Can you talk to us about how your side-hustle turned into something more.
Photography was always in my life. Me and the camera will celebrate 12 years of photography next May. When I was in Acting school in New York I didn’t have much. I couldn’t work as much as I wanted and study. The day didn’t have enough hours unfortunately. That’s when photography saved me. I started to see that I could be of use to others with my passion. I started taking headshots and portrait of my friends and then it slowly became my career. The pandemic convinced me that I could be more of use to the people around me as a photographer than an actress. But who knows what the future is holding? I don’t even want to know to be honest. I love surprises.
