We were lucky to catch up with Lowena Clay recently and have shared our conversation below.
Lowena , appreciate you joining us today. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I am pushing for a legacy that contains integrity, dependability, being known for my passion of helping others, and being good hearted in everything I apply myself too. I am also pushing for a legacy as to where my children take on my amazing qualities and become better than me and apply those attributions to continue to break generational curses that were place upon us based on our communities and past generations. When it comes to people I honestly believe I will be remembered by the love I spread, my heart, my helping hand to others, and the motivation I push onto everyone I come across to be better versions of themselves. Honestly, a lot of great and amazing things would be said because I make sure I leave my presence on whomever I come across. You never know what others are going through so just being the nicest at times can do a lot. When it comes to the remembrance of me I would hope to be remember by my high vibrations, my positivity, my hard work, my dedication towards my projects, my beautiful heart and always being a helping hand to others; as well as the many roles I play as far as me being a great mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grand-daughter, niece, cousin, and friend.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Yes, of course I am the CEO of Eighty-Seven Ten Dispatch which is a Nationwide Independent Dispatching Service for all truckers such as Owner Operators, New Motor Carriers with Active Authority, and Small Fleet Owners. I started Eighty-Seven Ten Dispatch from departing from a past career of Nursing. I wanted to be apart of another needed industry and trucking and logistics was the next big movement beside the medical field. I also took the initiative of applying myself to learn every detail in this trucking industry as far as learning how to operator a semi-trailer, learning the insights of becoming a broker, and lastly dispatching. I discover every aspect and decided to learn and master each one with dispatching trucks being my first choice. I noticed how trucks are the reason why most of our goods are transported everywhere in this world, so why not be apart of an industry that will always have movement no matter the circumstances. When it comes to the problems, I solve for our clients daily it is a huge task and this is probably one of the main reason I felt like my dispatching company was needed to carriers who just only want to focus on the roads and not deal with all the back-office work hassles. I solve the issues of making sure my carriers have smooth transactions when they arrive at shippers and receivers. I make sure my carriers are compensated detention or layover pay if there are any unnecessary issues. I make sure calls are reduced so they can keep focus on the road to have a safe and smooth commute. I solve claims for my carriers which saved them hundreds of dollars. I make sure my carriers get paid in an efficient timeframe, and I pretty much go above and beyond for them. I believe some of those qualities and skills is what sets my company apart from others. I am most proud of my company being a service to others. I take pride in being the helping hand and making sure the daily tasks are being executed daily for my clients based on their needs and wants. The main thing I will want potential clients to know is that Eighty-Seven Ten Dispatch has your best interests. We’re big on making every client satisfied as well as happy based on the business aspect of everything. Our goal here is to make sure every client ends up with dedicated lanes that they love and familiar with so it can make the commutes smoother for them and beneficial for them as well. Here at Eighty-Seven Ten Dispatch we aim to go above and beyond.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe what helped build my reputation in this market was my politeness and my details on everything as far as being efficient with effective communication. Great communication is my number one thing to achieve on my list when it comes to my services. This helps everything moves so smoothly. I believe it stands out because most of my relationships in this industry with many brokers point out those two qualities which always get complimented on. Also it is one of the main reasons why I get calls daily looking for drivers as well as emailed weekly load list from some of the biggest brokerage companies all due to how I conduct business and my reputation with that.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
Honestly, my best source of new clients has been word of mouth lately. I feel like my clients speak so highly of my business and when new potential clients reach out they already have insight on how Eighty-Seven Ten Dispatch conduct business, so they all come with great things to say. So, I will have to go with the word of mouth being one of my best sources at the moment.
