We were lucky to catch up with Lovely Abbott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Lovely thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
Customer success story is an integral part of any business. I look at this as building relationships with not only your customers but with everybody around you. Because every person out there is a potential customer. It doesn’t matter if you are targeting local customers or running an online business.
I put this on top of my list every day. I operate my business 100% online but that doesn’t mean things should be left out when interacting with my clients.
The way I look at it is like a source of revenue. You treat your clients in the most professional way possible, and they will remember you.
I have left a mark on my clients by being someone so passionate about helping them with their websites, design, and their content. This approach had brought endless opportunities and referrals my way.
Yes, there were times that a client relationship didn’t end the way I expected it, but I am someone who treats every single client the best way I want to be treated if I am a customer. I don’t burn bridges. The business world is too small for that.
It may not be a project-related success but at the end of the day, to be able to make them feel heard is customer success to me.
Lovely, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I help online entrepreneurs create a strong digital footprint through branding, websites, and customized content. More than 90% of buyers find their products online, if you are not leveraging that number, you are missing out.
My clients are often overwhelmed just with the thought of the whole branding and website process. That’s where I come in. I take their concerns, their questions, and their hesitations by building out a custom strategy for their business.
Every business is different and one client may not need a full website. I help them determine what’s best for them and we make it happen!
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
I started as a VA(Virtual Assistant) as a side hustle. Every time, my then newborn son would take his nap, that’s my cue to turn my laptop and look for clients. Then, I realized that I could take it to the next -level.
To venture outside of the usual freelancing platforms and start my own brand. But that wasn’t easy feat. Think about juggling household stuff, taking care of family, and trying to grow my clientele. The one thing that pivoted my business and helped it grow into what it is today was when I decided to invest in myself.
At first, I was so hesitant. For someone who doesn’t have a consistent flow of clients, paying for that investment was nerve-wracking. That investment taught me so many things that I still apply to my business today.
If you want to be able to serve the people you want to serve, you have to serve yourself first. Invest in YOURSELF.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
That there’s no exact blueprint to success.
You can learn tips, and you can formulate a strategy but if you don’t know who you are serving and why are you serving them, all of those won’t make sense. A lot of the times,we see people giving away their method, their tricks, and everything else. I am not saying they aren’t good. You can definitely use the same method for you business but only if you have truly understood what your audience REALLY need.
