Hi Love & Laughter Music Group, thanks for joining us today. How did you scale up? What were the strategies, tactics, meaningful moments, twists/turns, obstacles, mistakes along the way? We’d love to hear the backstory the illustrates how you grew your brand.
Founded in 1983 in a back garage, Love & Laughter Music has grown into one of Southern California’s most distinctive independent music production hubs. Its origins trace back to Joey Arreguin, a seasoned latin jazz musician, producer and songwriter, whose early career included collaborations with Sergio Mendes, Abe Laboriel, Justo Almario, Alex Acuna, Paul Jackson Jr. and labels like Motown, Universal, Home Sweet Home and Capitol Records.
What began as a solo endeavor evolved into a small creative operation with family members in the 90’s, as Joey started producing and arranging for larger acts at various recording studios. Along the way, he produced an album for a talented jazz vocalist and songwriter; their creative and personal partnership ultimately led to marriage and the heartbeat of Love & Laughter Music.
A key turning point came in 2001, when the business acquired a former orchid farm and transformed it into a creative compound. The complex now houses over 5,000 square feet of space. This expansion marked the formal establishment of Love & Laughter Music Group as a Black & Brown owned, family-run business with unique offerings and a growing team of engineers and producers.
Over the past two decades, the company has scaled its operations to include vocal coaching, artist development, publishing services, studio memberships, internships and a nonprofit music education initiative aimed at supporting youth in the arts. In response to the pandemic, Love & Laughter added yet another dimension to its services by launching an outdoor concert venue, which hosts live performances by local bands and provides a platform for community, cultural events and brand partnerships.

LLMG is a full service, state-of-the-art recording studio complex, music production house and private outdoor performance venue located in Anaheim, CA. We also offer artist development services, vocal coaching and studio memberships. With over 5000 sqft of creative space and unique offerings, we stand to be the only one-stop music hub of its kind in Southern California. We are just minutes from Disneyland, Honda Center, Angel Stadium, Anaheim Convention Center (NAMM), and Cal State Fullerton. We are a family-owned, award-winning collective that values collaboration, comfort, diversity and creativity in a nurturing and professional environment.
Known for pop, r&b, soul, indie, jazz, latin, gospel and even orchestral/choir arrangements, LLMG specializes in high-quality recordings, songwriting, arranging, composing and sound design in all genres as well as post-production, voice-overs, audiobooks and spots for Film/TV. We have produced work for artists, brands, networks and labels, including Motown, Capitol Records, Universal, Sony, Disney, HBO, NBC, CBS, Telemundo, National Geographic, NAMM Conference, Berklee College of Music, Cirque D’ Soleil and more!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
With the surge of digital music and home studio use in the past decade, we’ve seen many recording studios close their doors. In response to these significant industry changes, we decided to open our facilities to dedicated artists in the form of studio memberships. This allowed us to maximize the space, keep the studio doors open, and simultaneously build a loyal community of patrons.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Our reputation centers around the high quality of sound we consistently produce with our clients, as well as genuinely nurturing long-term relationships within an ever changing industry. We also love to highlight the diversity and accessibility of our brand within our region, which makes us a unique business in a competitive market.
