We recently connected with Love IV and have shared our conversation below.

Love, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.

I would like to say around 2015 it was like a light bulb popping above my head. I use to make little catchy Melodies that everyone, since my high school days, use to mimic. I figured what would happen if I turned these into actual songs. Sooner than later I locked in a session and went to work creating my my first single “Batman & Robbin”. Me being my worst critic, I thought little of it but it began buzzing around this small town of rock hill, SC. That’s when I knew I could actually do this as a career choice. It actually felt like I was chosen for this. Years down the line multi-genre artist “Love IV” was born.

Love, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

James Alex Stroud IV, sibling of 7 was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. As he grew he started to develop an ear for music watching his mother turn all the lights out in the house, grab a bottle of Remy Martin, and sing her heart out to old school r&b such as Jesse Powell, boys 2 men, silk, Avant, Mary J blidge, etc.

These artist soon later became an inspiration to the future “Love IV” sound. As love kept growing and pulling in the frequencies not only from the music, but from his mother. He later discovered other genres of music through his older sibling Zeiq. Rock, pop, heavy metal, Alternative, neo soul instantly put a grasp to his ears and stuck with him for years on. Literally with a dollar and a dream love hopped straight to it with his first ever single “Batman & Robin”. Not knowing the impact his first song would have, Love knew he could do more, but by that time people started to give him recognition for the “Batman & Robin” song. Using just the name IV, Love didn’t even realize what he was starting. At the same time he felt he could be more, so it caused love to search deep into himself to see what type of artist he actually is. Then the light bulb pops up again. “LOVE” is what he needed and desired most. Therefore it caused love to tap into a whole other being by the name LOVE IV. With his hit song “BLOOD SUCKERZ” it’s clearly showing that this Kid is something extremely different and on a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL than your average artist.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?

Yeah, my managers lol. They have helped me create and push the “Love IV” brand in a way I would’ve never thought. The amount of time they took out to teach me the ins and outs of the business has really been beneficial to us as a brand. Most certainly having them in the beginning would’ve definitely enhanced me a lot further, earlier in my career.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?

I had to unlearn that talent will get you noticed. I used to think my that just bc I was so talented in this specific area, that everything else will fall in line as well. Very immature thinking of me. Took me a little longer to realize that work ethic beats talent EVERY TIME.
