Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Love Atiya. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Love Atiya, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of my most meaningful projects to date has been Project Pleasure.
Project Pleasure was created to help remove the shame and stigma surrounding conversations about pleasure.
A group of about 11 people from all walks of life volunteered to shoot custom videos answering questions like “when is the first time you had your first orgasm?”, “what does an orgasm feel like?” and more.
This project helped my peers and myself reflect on questions some of us had never even asked ourselves before, all while helping someone in the world feel less alone when hearing our answer.
It feels amazing to know I could create and cultivate such a safe space for my peers to express themselves and share about their experiences in sexuality as openly as they did.
You can find Project Pleasure on my social media accounts (Tiktok, Youtube, Instagram, Patreon) as well as listen to the entire project on The Love Atiya Experience.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My name is Love Atiya and I am the host of the phenomenal pleasure positive and sex positive podcast The Love Atiya Experience.
I am known for being very vocal about the things I’ve learned during my times of sexual exploration and sharing these lessons with the world.
On my podcast I talk about topics that range from self pleasure, to virginities and answer questions like “does size matter”.
I absolutely love what I do because I have created a safe space for my peers, people who are younger than me but may not have the resources and people who are older than me but never had the space to explore themselves in this way.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
I believe the journey of beginning my podcast The Love Atiya Experience is a great story of resilience.
My podcast was birthed after being shadowbanned and constantly censored for posting content focusing on sexual wellness, sexual health and women’s anatomy (people with Vulvas) which was extremely frustrating considering accounts for male enhancement, ED (erectile dysfunction) and anything relating to men’s sexual health was in the clear and free to be posted on social media.
I was done with the systematic oppression so I created the spaces I wanted to exist.
There were so many obstacles from my new mic breaking (due to faulty manufacturing), to my headphones breaking, to my neighbors being too loud for me to record during the times I wanted to record. I pushed through and created a life changing outlet for people to bond, grow and heal.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
I think supporting artists and creatives on platforms such as Patreon and private membership clubs is the perfect way to show your favorite creative love.
I have a Patreon which I call “The Love Club” because it was created as a club or space for my community to get to know each other better all while I get to know them better. It was created as a way for my friends and supporters to be able to support me in exchange for intimate, spicy, quirky and fun content.
