Lourdes Paulette , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today One of the most important things small businesses can do, in our view, is to serve underserved communities that are ignored by giant corporations who often are just creating mass-market, one-size-fits-all solutions. Talk to us about how you serve an underserved community.
Yes, my business serves an underserved community every day. Many of my clients are small business owners, immigrants, or families who often feel left behind or intimidated by the complexity of taxes, accounting, and legal documents. Larger firms may see them as “too small” to matter, but for me, they represent the heart of our community.
One story that stands out is when I helped a single mother who was turned away by others because her case wasn’t “big enough.” For me, her case mattered deeply, because it was about her livelihood and her children’s future. By guiding her step by step, I not only solved her immediate challenges but also gave her the knowledge and confidence to keep building her dream.
At the end of the day, I give a voice to those who feel ignored by the system. Serving the underserved is not just something I do it is who I am, and it’s the core of my mission.

My name is Lourdes Paulette Garzia, and I am the founder of L&P Accounting Services LLC, where I bring together my expertise in accounting, tax preparation, and notary services with a mission to make these processes accessible to everyone.
I started my business because I realized how many individuals and small business owners especially from immigrant and underserved communities felt lost when facing accounting, payroll, or legal requirements. Unlike large firms with intimidating offices, I work directly with clients in a way that is flexible, personal, and approachable. Whether it’s through remote support, virtual services, or one-on-one guidance, I meet people where they are and give them the clarity they need.
At L&P Accounting Services, we provide tax preparation, bookkeeping, payroll, notary services (including remote online notarizations), and personalized financial guidance. What sets me apart is not a building or a big firm name, but the trust, education, and empowerment I give my clients.
I am most proud of having built a brand that reflects my values: integrity, compassion, and service. For my clients, it’s not about walking into an office it’s about knowing they have someone reliable by their side who truly cares about their success.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the biggest lessons in my journey has been resilience. There were moments when balancing motherhood, studies, and the responsibility of starting a business felt overwhelming. I experienced setbacks, lack of support, and times when it would have been easier to quit. But instead of giving up, I chose to see each challenge as an opportunity to grow stronger. Resilience, for me, means standing up after every fall, and that has been the foundation of my personal and professional growth.
We’d love to hear the story of how you turned a side-hustle into a something much bigger.
Yes, my business started as a side hustle. At first, it was just helping people here and there with taxes, bookkeeping, and documents while I worked other jobs. Over time, I realized the demand was real and that I was filling a gap in the community. Little by little, I turned that side hustle into a full-time career by gaining trust, investing in my education, and expanding my services. Today, what started as something small is now a business that represents my values and my commitment to serving others.
