Lourdes K, appreciate you joining us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?

The main key is to take action with a vision of success in the desired direction. Once committed to this, navigate the journey to achieve them. In the process, you must be patient for things that take time, persistent when things get difficult and persevere through everything with the intention to reach those goals.

Lourdes K, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Lourdes Karina Pinto,I was born and raised in Paraguay. My love for cooking started at a young age watching my mom and grandmother cooking tradicional Paraguayan dishes.

I believe that food is one of the main ways that people can learn and relate to Paraguay, my homeland. It is a small, beautiful country where empanadas are popular and they are made fresh in a very particular way; hard boiled egg is added in the fillings; especially, the empanadas made with beef.

Tasty Empanadas was established in 2018 in Howard County, Maryland. Our mission is to provide freshly handmade empanadas that will satisfy the palates of our customers.

We are very proud to be the only Paraguayan restaurant in the Washington- Baltimore Metropolitan Area and we are so happy share a little be about our culture.

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

After running the business as a catering company and then decided to become a food vendor in a food hall. The frightening moment came when the COVID-19 Pandemic swept through the world, four months after we had opened.. Everything became uncertain and we had to close our doors to the customers. We survived the ups and downs while being vulnerable but successful, and as a result, we decided to help those in need thru community service. We worked closely with Howard County General Hospital, Columbia Community Care and a local fire department to provide meals for these essential community workers.
