Lourdes, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?

TENACITY & PASSION. I believe that this is the recipe for success. I like probably other small business owners did not inherit our company. We have worked hard day in and day out to build our business. We have sacrificed some family time at the beginning and it’s important to have support from our families.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I decided to start a group practice because I wanted to provide a space for my community and mindlike individuals who wanted to have a therapist that looked like them, that could understand their culture, and that could relate in the most authentic way. Mental health has recently gotten more attention than ever before. There is less stigma and I have noticed that more Latinos are willing to have a session and work on themselves and fight for their marriages. I am passionate about the couples and families I work with. More than ever our marriages are being impacted by “societal expectations” and stigmas. It has been difficult for younger couples to fight for their marriages and to see why it is worth it. The group practice I have established focuses mainly on providing couples counseling and family therapy. So many blended families struggle to adapt, connect, and bond. There are lack of resources for them and often are left to fend on their own. Here at New Hope Family Counseling Center, we understand that it is not easy to thrive in a blended family system and we provide that support.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

I think that “word-of-mouth referrals” has been our best way of building a reputation. We strive to build a connection with our clients.

How did you build your audience on social media?

I am blessed that I have a best friend who is so savvy when it comes to social media. She has helped me in managing my social media. She helps in creating the layout and gives me advice on content. I am a true believer in using your resources and helping to elevate my business. My advice is to find that one friend/family member that enjoys being on social media and knows how to manage it. I forget to check my social media ( :) so I am happy that I have my friend who runs it for me and keeps me in the loop. She also knows me and knows my style and has been an amazing addition to my social media presence.
