Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mista Los. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mista Los, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
Ummm, I’d have to say it was a few years back. I honestly had an epiphany or some, (haha). I can’t see myself waking up n doing anything else. If I’m gonna give myself to something, it would be Hip-Hop or football, but I can’t gain weight to save my life so pass me the mic. Na, but to answer your question, it was one day I just knew this is what I’m here for. I always felt it, since I was a little kid. But a few years back is when it allll made perfect sense. Since then I been on a constant incline. Black Attic Mafia baby.

Mista Los, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
What’s up y’all? I’m Loso in case you ain’t know so, aka Mista hide yo momma, aka Mista Los. I’m a Hip-Hop artist from Rocky Ford, Colorado, holding it down for D-Town. I been serious about my craft/career for the last 5 years or so. Music has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve always lived a quote on quote “Rapper” life. I’m a hiphophead to the bone. I love the style, the voice, the sound, the dancing, the vibe, the lingo, the art. I love it all. I love how people can come from completely different backgrounds, but find common ground through a song. That speaks volumes of the impact music has. Once I disciplined myself, the opportunities became endless. Everything started clicking and coming together, effortlessly. I finished my debut mixtape, “Creepin’ 2.2” and every record flowed and made sense as it went into the next. The sonics on it were something else. But the thing is I didn’t even try. It happened as it should. Before I even finished Creepin, I practically finished my newest project. Y’all are gonna get it first before even my social media pages. I haven’t announced it anyway. I should have the artwork in sometime within the month though. Anyway, my ep titled “Mile Highs & Valley Lows” is in the works and already had a release date with a single coming soon. I’m out here promoting my recent release, Creepin’ 2.2 but I couldn’t hold it back. Creepin’ needed to come out, it was a therapy for me n I couldn’t be more proud. But mannnnnnn, this EP is sounding crazy. It’s produced completely by my brother LowLife Aka DannyDranx. He’s outta my hometowns rival town, La Junta, Colorado. He’s a beast out the south east. But we’ll leave it there. . Y’all got the name, y’all got who produced it. Sooner than later y’all will get the track list n cover art. Back to Creepin’, if you haven’t heard it, you def needa take a listen. I feel like the production is slept on, I have K.E. On the Track, Don P, Phil Valley, Taylor Gangs Cozmo, n a few others on this project.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
My whole journey illustrates my resilience, if I’m being honest. My people barely started really taking me serious n rockin with me like this year. It didn’t help that I barely dropped a full body of work, but still. I wish they woulda rode a lil harder. But then again if I woulda had they support off jump, I don’t think I woulda worked as hard or used this chip on my shoulder to elevate myself. I finally see who’s been there n who never will. But that’s coooo, cause I have the ones that matter, n we ridin’.
Is there a mission driving your creative journey?
I was jus talking about this in the comments on one of my posts. I have to say a main goal is leaving a legacy for not only my 3 daughters but my deceased father Karlos Anthony Vasquez I. Being the second had made me want to make sure that when our name is spoken it carries weight. He was known n loved by soooo many, so that right there gave me huge shoes to feel. Not to mention the type of father he was in the short time he had. That made me want to be a better father as well.
