We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lorrie Fowler. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lorrie below.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Lorrie Fowler, a Nashville based painter, specializing in large abstract statement pieces that captivate viewers with their unique movement, texture, and detail. My pieces are created by combining the fluid motion of paints with gravity, air pressure, and a bit of fire. The use of color, texture, and movement of the paint invite the viewer to get lost in the piece.
As a self-taught artist, my painting journey started as a fun way to express myself creatively, process my thoughts and worship the Lord. I’m happy to say that, a little over a year ago, my husband, who is also an artist, left his corporate 9-5 job and we have become full time artists!
Adventuring outside with my husband Isaac and our 3 boys is something I truly enjoy as I take in the beauty of the outdoors.
I often draw inspiration from both nature and my relationship with Jesus, combining these inspirations to create beautiful paintings that evoke a sense of peace in those who view them.
My work is featured in homes and businesses throughout the nation, bringing my unique style of art to a wide range of spaces. I enjoy helping solve specific art needs for my clients by collaborating with them to create the perfect paintings of their dreams!

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Although I come from a family of amazing painters, I’ve only seen myself as an artist for the last 3 or so years. My journey as an artist started after I began to learn more about my identity as a child of God and I went through a great deal of heart healing through Biblical counseling. It was through that season and exploring abstract art that I began to see myself as an artist and found my creative voice.
One of my missions as an artist is to spark creativity in others. I want people to know that every single person is designed to have creativity in one form or another. For artists, I think one of the biggest struggles is their own inner critic and lack of confidence in their art. My desire is for more and more people to break loose of the fear to create, or the fear to take the time, or the fear to step out and try. The world needs the creativity that is hidden in each person just waiting to be expressed!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
One of the most rewarding aspects of being an artist is the way that my art speaks to those who view it. Often, I hear that people feel peace when they look at my paintings. I invite the Lord to speak through my art and He does! People receive personal experiences of the Father’s love when they see my art, even if they don’t realize that’s what’s happening. I love it!
