We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lories Khoury. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lories below.
Hi Lories, thanks for joining us today. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
Our mission at GAME ON! is to connect high performers to vetted mental wellness coaches and counselors through our mobile/web application. Our motto at GAME ON! is, “ When the game stops, it’s not game over, but Game On!” As a clinician, I have worked with many individuals coming into traditional psychotherapy because of a crisis they were experiencing. I wanted to develop something that gave the doctor, grad student, athlete, combat forces, etc., an opportunity to go from good to great in their respective field. As someone who has been in therapy as a client and worked on my mental toughness in my athletic and academic career, Game On! would have been a resource I would have loved to use. Game On! is convenient, literally at your fingertips! Given the unique matching questions, each person gets matched with a mental wellness coach that meets their needs.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have always been an athlete and strive to achieve optimal performance in my professional world. As a young athlete, I suffered many injuries which resulted in ACL surgery. I felt a little defeated; however, I had a great support system. In addition to being an athlete, I have also worked in mental health for over 15 years. If anyone asks what I love to do, my answer is very simple, ” I love helping people.” I have worked in schools, the community, homes, and clinical settings. This made me value my lives mission and passion to continue to find areas where people needed help and were overlooked. Fast forward to my clinical life, working with high school, college, professional and former professionals athletes, one message was very clear, they never thought to speak to anyone about their mental health unless there was a crisis. If we look at universities across this country, most, if not all, have one Sport Psychologist to service the entire athletic department. Let me paint the picture for you: if there is 100 student-athletes and 1 sport psychologist, then a large percentage of those student-athletes is not being seen unless there is a crisis. According to NCAA at least 40% percentage of student-athletes reported anxiety or depression and only 10% have spoken to someone about any mental health issues they are facing.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I believe being a licensed psychotherapist as well as specializing in sports psychology gave my business a little more credibility. Many Certified Mental Performance Coaches (CMPC) as well as psychotherapists don’t overlap and keep the industries separate. I believe that having worked in both industries, helped me understand the need for both industries.
Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Remind yourself to take it day-by-day. Ground yourself. Your team will reflect the same energy and attitude you have.
