Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Loriel Colon. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Loriel , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your creative career sooner or later?
Everyone’s journey is specifically tailored to their purpose here on earth. I was meant to be in the exact place where I was when I first started my Lash Tech career. Which allowed me to open up my own salon after five years. Of course, everyone wishes that if they had known what they know now, they would’ve applied it sooner. Wisdom comes with time and experience. I was where I needed to be at that time to be where I am today.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Loriel. I was born and raised in Philadelphia. They say the city of brotherly love; I say the city that builds strong individuals and molds them through pain, trials & tribulations. I never imagined I, Loriel, the young woman who was always in trouble growing up, would first and foremost be the mother that I am today. A leader & a mentor for many women I come across daily.
Growing up, I was always criticized for being too loud, expressive and strong. Also for standing my ground no matter who told me I was wrong. I always did what felt right in my soul, Whether it was standing up to the bullies, defending my mother, or even the innocent bystanders being mistreated while in my presence. I, Loriel, always Stood up. I felt misunderstood. I turned my pain into power. That inturn Lorehel Lash was born. We all go through things in life. My outlook was wanting to grow through what I went through.
In February of 2018 I was in a very dark place. I then took the initiative to take a lash course. I didn’t know what I was doing, but I knew something had to come of it. While taking the course, I didn’t feel it was for me. I’m not a quitter. I’m the strong Loriel that anyone could depend on. How could I give up so easily? At that time, I was working two jobs, corporate & nightlife. I devoted the little free time that I had between my 3-year-old son at the time & practicing my craft. Fast forward from lashing out of my one-bedroom apartment, renting space in a studio, going 1/2 on a storefront, and now 2023, being almost two years to my solo-owned storefront. By the grace of god, we are here now. We all have to start somewhere & I am grateful I didn’t give up.
Going through everything I went through allowed me to establish a safe haven for my clients. I am allowing my clients to come in as they are, especially in today’s world. It’s more than the money for me. I’ve always found a sense of healing by having conversations with my clients—a sense of purpose. When you find purpose, you find passion. Then, the money shall follow.
Our beauty bar offers services ranging from lash extensions, full-body waxing, nail services, brow services, and hair services to following our lash product line.
At Lorehel Lash Beauty Bar, Our motto is faith over fear. We wouldn’t be here without our faith. That’s what I’m most proud of: nothing could break me. The faith instilled in me let me know that you may go through a lot in life. The key is to grow through it and learn the lessons that need to be learned to open new doors that are meant for you.
I want the clients/followers of our brand to know that anything is possible. Don’t look at me as just a successful brand. Look at me as I’m you. If I can do it, you can. There’s so much strength in pain. There is so much power in direction. Trust your journey. Have faith, and I promise you the impossible is possible.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being creative is making my clients feel safe, seen, and beautiful! The reaction that I see when they leave my salon is priceless. The best part is when they refer to their family and friends. That is the greatest gift.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
One of the reasons I’m big on my faith is my resilience to overcome obstacles in my way and how I overcame them. No matter how many times family/friends doubted me or showed no support. I still made my way. I didn’t allow the actions of others to stray me away from who I am. I did not allow their projection to dictate my reality. I still figured it out. I never allowed my pain to dignify who I was. There are so many stories I can Tell. My favorite one is being a young Hispanic mother who was able to graduate from college one week after her first child was born. Break generational curses with no guidance or help. No handout would allow me to be where I am today. It was all hard work, dedication, faith, and more importantly my relationship with god. Hard work, sweat and lots of tears all while trusting every step of this beautiful journey.
