We were lucky to catch up with LoriAnne Swaby recently and have shared our conversation below.
LoriAnne, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
FARIN MAGAZINE. It’s a digital magazine for Jamaican people who don’t ascribe themselves to the normal things known for Jamaicans. It’s for the alternate crowd of the island and I am very proud of it.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
FARIN MAGAZINE is a digital zine created to showcase the alternative side of Jamaican society. It is a place where the nerds, freaks and geeks of the island can be themselves with no judgement or fear

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I wanted to create a space that Jamaicans who normally don’t fit the general stereotype of a Jamaican can be within! A space where they can feel like they belonged!

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
I was recently the victim of a stampede and it caused a broken leg. I had to pivot harder within the magazine due to it. The situation at hand is bleak but I am still happy with how the magazine came out.
