Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lori Morris. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lori, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I write meaningful songs and create landscape paintings based on my faith in God, (the creator of the ends of the earth)
My songs are often inspired by first connecting with Him. My latest song called “You Love Me & I Love You” started with a prayer on my couch one day in 2022. I was distressed and I was honest with God about it. As I prayed, I felt like he was telling me to just keep my eyes on Him. Some of my words to him in the prayer happened to rhyme and because the words also comforted me, I wrote them down. God often gives me guidance and revelation this way and I write songs about the wisdom he gives.
I made a YouTube video about it that you can watch. https://youtu.be/lhR2H5y0RRw?si=AWQhkKdtfaMHFtba

Lori, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
For those who may not know me:
My name is Lori Morris, and I’m a Canadian landscape artist and singer-songwriter based on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia. I’ve been a professional landscape painter for over a decade. I’m known for my vibrant paintings of the ocean, arbutus trees, forest trails, and coastal light. In more recent years, I’ve also stepped into the world of music, writing and producing faith-based songs that are inspired by my deep love for God and nature.
How I got into this work:
Art and music have always been part of my life, but it wasn’t until our kids became teenagers that I began to pursue both more seriously. I felt a strong calling to express beauty, peace, and hope — not only through painting but also through music. As I have said before, melodies and lyrics often emerge while praying to God. Both of my art forms are different expressions of bringing encouragement and inspiration to others.
What I offer:
I write and release Christian pop songs. Each song carries a message of hope, healing, and spiritual renewal. I also create short-form videos and visual content on instagram and YouTube that combine my artwork with my music to offer a peaceful and uplifting experience for viewers.
I also provide original acrylic landscape paintings, fine art prints, and art cards through my gallery and my website at https:/www.Lorimorrispaintings.com. I also offer an online painting course for beginners that teaches step-by-step landscape techniques in a way that’s relaxing and enjoyable.
What sets me apart:
I believe what sets my work apart is the authenticity and spiritual foundation behind everything I create. Whether it’s a painting of the ocean or a worship song, my goal is always to point to God who loves each of us deeply — to bring peace, light, and beauty into people’s lives. I’m also proud to support International Justice Mission (IJM) through my online painting course, donating 50% of the proceeds to help free people from modern slavery. My brand is deeply rooted in my faith and my desire to use creativity to make a difference in the world.
What I’m most proud of:
I’m most proud of the moments when someone tells me that one of my songs helped them feel closer to God, or that a painting brings them comfort. Those moments remind me that this work matters. I’m also grateful for the community I’ve built through my YouTube channel, Instagram, and annual art events — where I open up my gallery and home to hundreds of visitors each year.
What I want people to know:
If you’re someone who longs for beauty, peace, and spiritual depth, I invite you to look up my work. Whether through art or music, I want my projects to feel like a breath of fresh air — a reminder that even in hard times, there is still goodness, light, and hope.

Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
One of the most significant influences on my life has been my involvement with the women’s ministry and retreat through John and Staci Eldredge and their book “Captivating”. Attending a Captivating retreat was transformational for me. It taught me how to truly hear from God—that prayer is not just a one-sided conversation. It’s a relationship where I can discern God’s voice and His direction for my life.
Learning to listen to God—changed everything. It was through this connection with God that I began to understand that He created me with a purpose rooted in creativity. These weren’t just hobbies—they were callings. God himself helped awaken and affirm these gifts in me, and it gave me the confidence to pursue them as part of my life’s work.
In addition, the inner healing I’ve received through reading the Bible, attending retreats like “Soul Care” with Rob Reimer, “Freedom Sessions” with Ken Dyck, listening to the podcast “the Daily Audio Bible” with Brian Hardin and learning to hear God’s voice has shaped how I approach my whole life. Wholeness, purpose, and spiritual connection to God are foundational to how I live and create.
More recently, I’ve continued to grow in wisdom, revelation, and inner healing through the teachings of “Deeper Walk Ministries” and Dr. Marcus Warner. I would recommend all of his books starting with “Understanding the Wounded Heart” and “The 4 Habits of Joy-Filled People”. One of my favorite things Marcus teaches is how to invite Jesus into and heal painful memories from our past. He also teaches other joy building biblical skills that help me create from a place of greater freedom and joy.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Living Into Resilience as an Artist
Being an artist means living with a constant hum of inner voices telling me that what I’m doing doesn’t matter—that I should be doing something more practical, more predictable, more secure.
These thoughts come uninvited: What if no one buys this painting? What if no one listens to the song I poured my heart into? What if I’m wasting my time?
But I’ve learned to press in and keep going. Sometimes I push through by sheer will. Sometimes I ask God what He thinks about those thoughts, and He gently reminds me of truth.
Sometimes I hear His encouragement through someone who tells me how deeply a song touched them—or I see it when someone unexpectedly buys a piece of art.
Sometimes it’s as simple and powerful as my husband saying he’s proud of me, or my son wanting one of my paintings for his mantle.
Resilience doesn’t mean I never hear the doubts. It means I don’t let them define me. I keep showing up. I keep creating. I keep trusting that the calling God placed in me matters, even when it doesn’t look that way.
