Lori, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?

After being laid off from my previous job in the medical field, I found myself at a crossroads. At the time, the medical industry required employees to be vaccinated for the COVID-19, and since I chose not to receive the vaccine, I had to explore other career options. That’s when I stumbled upon a TikTok video about becoming a Virtual Assistant. Intrigued, I followed the creator on Instagram and attended one of her informational sessions. I was immediately drawn to the idea and the business model.

Excited by the prospect, I shared it with my sister, who encouraged me to pursue it on my own, rather than joining the program, which was quite costly. With her support, we created my first business headshots and business cards. She also introduced me to in-person networking, which she had already been doing. By early 2022, I began networking alongside her and quickly gained my first clients.

Since then, my journey has been a rollercoaster, but a fulfilling one. I’ve gained and lost clients, but each experience has helped me discover what I truly enjoy—serving others to the best of my ability, helping them recognize their strengths, and offering guidance on how they can improve their businesses. My own learning journey has shown me what works and what doesn’t, which I pass along to others. Along the way, I’ve built meaningful relationships, and some of the people I’ve met have become more like family.

Yes! My journey is rooted in my faith in God. Every day begins with a commitment to share His Word, which guides my work and inspires my mission to serve others. This passion for uplifting others drives my dedication to helping solopreneurs succeed in their businesses.

As a Virtual Assistant, I provide project-based services tailored to solopreneurs, assisting with administrative tasks, customer support, and social media management while ensuring you’re utilizing the right CRM systems to enhance efficiency and automation.

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

I believe the most effective strategy for growing my clientele starts with prayer. Before I attend any networking events, whether in person or virtually, I make sure to seek God’s guidance to connect me with the right people. Building strong relationships is key because another powerful way to grow my business is through referrals. When people trust me and my character, they’re more likely to recommend my services to others. So, I focus on cultivating genuine connections, knowing that my network can significantly contribute to my success.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?

I’ve grown my audience on social media by connecting with people I meet while networking, and most of them have added me back. From there, it’s all about consistency. I focus on sharing valuable information that others can use and learn from, while also being my authentic self. By sharing personal insights and experiences on my page, I allow people to get to know me better, which fosters deeper connections and relationships. Being real and relatable has made a significant impact on how I connect with my audience!
