Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lori Klonowski. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lori, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you tell us the backstory behind how you came up with the idea?
Missy and I are avid pickeball players, we actually met on the pickle ball court. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America; and is such a great way to meet new friends! We knew that the sport alone was generating many avenues for interest; professional athletes and celebrities were buying teams, and sponsorships of players and products were accelerating! The more we got to know one another, the more we knew that we had a comedic connection both on and off the court. Other players would gravitate toward us just to hear what would come out of our mouths next! So, one day we said that we should do a Podcast together… a fun entertaining one about pickle ball and things that make people irritated….Pissed and Pickled. We tossed around the idea for a few weeks, and gathered feedback from other players and family members. Everyone thought it was a great idea and encouraged us to do it! We had no idea where or how to start, but with all the encouragement from others… we did it! There was much trial and error, and many hours of you tube tutorials, but we did it! Our first episode launched March 17, 2022, from a closet in my house. We since have launched 34 episodes, have fully monetized sponsors, partnerships and collaborators and just moved into our brand new state of the art studio!!! We have been guests on many National podcasts and have hosted celebrity guests such as comedians Leanne Morgan, Katherine Blanford, Streamy award winner and animator Meat Canyon, and a host of professional Pickleball Players!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Missy and I are both moms to adult children, I’m married to my husband of 34 years and Missy is a single gal looking for love! Part of our show digs into her online dating life, which is very entertaining and sometimes quite disturbing! Missy works full time as an Allergy and Asthma nurse and I run my own property development and real estate management company. I have a broadcast background, which made the transition back behind the microphone a tad familiar, but technology has changed so much since my radio days that it was virtually like starting from scratch.
There are many podcasts our there, but I think what sets us apart from the others is that we are fun! We touch a bit on pickle ball, have a credible pro give a tip each segment, but then we move on to the entertainment!
Our presenting sponsor, Mypadl, is quoted as saying we are the best entertaining pickle ball podcast out there and they want to be a part of it for the long haul! We are very proud of that, and want to do our very best for every sponsor, partner, collaborator and listener that we have! We love to make people laugh, and if we can brighten someone’s day, just a little, that, in itself makes it all worth while,
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
We started as a brand new podcast. We honestly dabbled a bit in the past with Facebook for our personal accounts but that was all the experience we had. Our kids told us we need to get an instagram, I didn’t even know what that was! So, we figured out how to do that, started with 2 followers!..that was each of us…haha. We were told we needed content, content, content…again, no idea how or what to put on there. I started looking at other peoples pages… I started following others, they followed us back! I started reaching out to others about their products, etc..asked if they’d like to collaborate with us, before we knew it, we had a multitude of products being shipped to us in exchange for shout outs, tags etc. It has been so fun to meet people this way! We currently have over 2K followers on Instagram, have over 30k views on You Tube and 13K downloads on the Podcast!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I speak for us both when I say that the most rewarding part of doing this podcast, is the ability to make people laugh. In this crazy world we live in, it is nice to be able to take a step back every now and then and just laugh. At the end of the day,,,that’s all that really matters.
