Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Loretta Saha. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Loretta thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My parents, Meshack and Angela emphasized the value of education. They helped me appreciate the importance of learning, which set me up for both personal and professional success. They instilled a strong work ethic and sense of self-discipline early on that contributed to my accomplishments and consistency. These qualities have been essential for achieving my goals, and it’s clear they helped me develop the determination to follow through on starting a travel business.
When I was a toddler, both of my parents were pursuing their college degrees at Bluffton University, Ohio. Somehow, they still managed to take us on trips around the East Coast whenever they had the chance. I barely remember these trips but looking at the photo albums tell the story of how my parents loved to take us on road trips!
As we got older, my father continued to travel to different countries for work and I always loved hearing about his experiences that sparked my curiosity. He encouraged me to explore new places and I gained an appreciation for the world’s diversity, opening doors to a more global perspective and a deeper connection to cultures beyond my own.
My parents raised us in the Christian faith, and also made sure we did not forget our African roots. They cultivated a genuine love for others that taught me empathy, kindness, and understanding, making me more connected to people and their stories—qualities that enrich relationships and build community. Thus our trips aim to give the travelers an opportunity to engage in meaningful outreach work, and giving back to the communities we visit. I am grateful for the decision my parents made in raising us they way they did, it has made me intellectually curious, have a love for humanity and spreading cheer wherever I go.

Loretta, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I entered the travel industry out of a passion for exploring the world and sharing those experiences with others. This enthusiasm naturally grew into a business that fulfills my love for organizing meaningful trips that go beyond the norm, by incorporating educational tours, cultural/language immersion, and volunteerism. Nubienne Travel Club offers curated group travel experiences, weaving Black history and cultural influence into every itinerary. From educational tours and cultural immersion activities to wellness retreats and special events, Nubienne Travel Club is dedicated to providing enriching, rejuvenating journeys that celebrate Black excellence and history across the globe.
Planning travel can be overwhelming, especially when looking for culturally resonant, insightful, and well-organized experiences. We help by designing meticulously planned, culturally rich itineraries that allow each traveler to engage meaningfully with each destination.
As a founder with a unique background, and experience of living in 3 continents, being multilingual and having a network of friends and business partners all over the world, these qualities in addition to my passion for travel and humanity, allow me to create immersive and transformative experiences that go beyond typical travel. Our deep integration of Black history and culture, and volunteerism into travel itineraries makes Nubienne Travel Club unique.
I am most proud of crafting trips that leave a lasting impact on clients—educating, inspiring, and connecting them with Black culture and heritage worldwide. Seeing participants grow and gain new perspectives is incredibly rewarding. Especially when they join us year after year! It means we are doing it right!
With each journey, we hope to inspire, educate, and offer an environment where travelers feel empowered and connected to a broader cultural narrative.

How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
The idea of turning my passion into a business started 15 years ago, but I was not ready. I was scared of failure, and lacked the resources. I worked at a call-center fat the time making a little over minimum wage. I had to put the dream on hold and go back to college full-time. Fast forward, after graduating with a Business degree, and working better-paying jobs, I was able to save some money for the capital. One day I simply took the leap, and emptied my savings of about $8,000 which I used to revamp my website, pay for marketing, and for my travel to networking events. The rest is history.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
After each trip, we provide a swag bag and a personalized message to thank clients for traveling with us. I share a recap of the trip highlights, and ask for feedback because I value their opinions.
We have a private WhatsApp group for past travelers to keep them connected, share memories, and build a community. This allows clients to keep up with each other and look forward to updates.
We are soon rolling out a loyalty program with perks for repeat travelers, such as early access to new trips, discounts, and special events. This will include webinars with local guides or Q&A sessions with me about upcoming destinations.
