Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lorenzo Beronilla . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Lorenzo , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Can you talk to us about how you learned to do what you do?

I learned my craft literally on the job. I had no formal training as a matter of fact becoming an actor was an accident. I never had any wish as a child or an adult to become an actor. A friend from work referred me to a Commercial team just because I fit a demographic and I happen to know how to cook a thing or two.

Knowing what I know now there was nothing I would have change to speed up the learning process. I HAD to pay my dues. The long days, the travel, the no sleep, the low pay…AT FIRST. I. Hindsight it was the best Acting 101 training. No regrets whatsoever.

The skills that were most essential for me was although I was in my mind an introvert but in a working environment I was an extrovert.

I turned into an “On Camera Extrovert” if you will. I just felt very comfortable talking into a camera.

A second skill was that I was able to think on my feet quite quickly i.e. imy mprov skills kicked in and I thrived.

I would say the ONLY obstacle that stood in my way from learning more would be that I am dyslexic and if I’m a bit nervous my dyslexia would over power me and I wouldn’t be able to read a script let alone a teleprompter in front of me

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

My name is Lorenzo Beronilla I am American film, television and voice actor. In 2018 made my feature film debut in the comedy Furlough starring Melissa Leo and Super Dark Times (2017)~slated as one of the top 50 American Films of 2017. And in 2023 I was sohonored to be part of the Disney Family with my role in Director Justin Simien’s reboot, Disney’s Haunted Mansion-opened in theaters July 28th 2023. In addition to my film and television work, I am a writer, producer and commercial actor. Fun Fact: I would say I’m known for the Epicurious cooking shows that went viral on YouTube (2018-present) And in 2021 I won the inaugural season of Top Chef Amateurs on Bravo Tv.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

On March 13, 2024, I was placed on the national transplant waitlist. My official diagnosis was heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. This happens when the lower chamber of the heart does not pump blood out to the body as well as it should, also known as systolic heart failure. I was is connected to a heart pump machine and IVs. I continued my journey of hope in a New York metropolitan hospital, which was my home for what I believe to be the unforeseeable future.

My wish was to find the perfect match for a new heart, to have a successful surgery, to overcome my battle with recovery, AND to live a long life!

So a flash back to Dec 2023.

Travel and working back to back on commercial gigs. Unknowingly sick to fast forward to present day. Now I am no longer ill and I feel like a young guy looking at the world with a wide eyes and dreaming of a future ready to be filled with new memories. This is my time to live my 2nd Best Life.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

As far as Acting I try my best to provide as much info to any question about how to to do this or that . I constantly get asked for acting advice of how to audition, contracts, how the book a gig, how to interpret a script etc.

And I always take the time to and either talk to fellow actors on the phone or a quick zoom.

I don’t asked for anything from them but to message me when they book a gig using my helpful tips. That right there is all the thanks I need.
