We recently connected with Lorena Sauer and have shared our conversation below.
Lorena, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the things we most admire about small businesses is their ability to diverge from the corporate/industry standard. Is there something that you or your brand do that differs from the industry standard? We’d love to hear about it as well as any stories you might have that illustrate how or why this difference matters.
I distinguish myself through my remarkable ability to intuitively understand and cater to the unique needs and lifestyles of each client. Unlike many other interior designers who might be driven by current trends and personal preferences, I take a client-centric approach. My expertise lies in perceiving the way clients live, their habits, routines, and individual preferences, and translating these insights into spaces that truly resonate with them.
My approach is grounded in the idea that a well-designed space should not only be visually appealing but should also seamlessly integrate with how the clients interact with their environment. I go beyond superficial aesthetics, delving into the functional aspects of design to ensure that every element serves a purpose in the client’s daily life.
A key aspect that sets me apart is my commitment to avoiding trend-driven design. Rather than imposing the latest fads onto my clients, I adapt my creativity and expertise to align with their established preferences and lifestyle choices. This results in spaces that feel organic, timeless, and genuinely reflective of the client’s personality and values.
By putting the client’s way of life at the forefront of the design process, I create interiors that are not only visually stunning but also incredibly functional and deeply personal. My unique ability to read my clients and design around their lifestyles sets me apart as a designer that crafts spaces with both artistic excellence and a profound understanding of human needs.
One of my favorite stories is when a newly wed couple hired me to design their brand new house. As they stood in the midst of their new home, they found themselves at a creative crossroads. The vastness of the space left them feeling a bit lost, and they yearned for guidance to weave their aspirations into the design.
Upon meeting them, I sensed their curiosity and hopes, as well as their hesitations. The house held dreams and desires, and I knew it was my mission to bring those to life. I began by asking them about something deeply meaningful to them, something that would serve as a touchstone for the entire design.
As I conversed with them, you uncovered the story behind an oversized poster that leaned against the wall. The poster portrayed warm hues evoking a sense of nostalgia and serenity. My client shared that this poster was a gift from her husband on their very first date, a symbol of the moment their love story began. It wasn’t just a piece of art; it was a repository of cherished memories.
In that instant, an idea took root in my mind. The poster wasn’t just an accessory; it was gonna be soul of their design. I envisioned a space that would envelop them in the same warmth and beauty that the poster exuded. It would be a space where every element resonated with the poster’s colors, a space where their history and dreams would intertwine seamlessly.
The walls were painted in shades that echoed the hues of the sunset on the poster. Furniture pieces were selected to complement the poster’s elegant frame, each one chosen with the intention of making the couple’s daily life both comfortable and enchanting. Every detail, from the textiles to the decor, was meticulously chosen to amplify the significance of the poster.
At the end, the house was no longer just an empty space; it was a sanctuary that resonated with their shared history. The oversized poster, now displayed prominently on a focal wall, radiated a sense of belonging.
The journey from an empty house to a personalized haven was not just about aesthetics; it was about the emotional connection that transcended decor.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve had a passion for interior design for as long as I can remember. Always collecting art and interior design books and magazines. When living in Argentina, where I am from, I took several courses in Art History and photography. After moving to New York, and having redone and renovated many houses, I decided to get my certification in Interior Design at Parsons School of Design-The New School.
My experience includes working, not only in the metropolitan area but also in Argentina and Chile ( where I lived for 7 years). My different moves and exposure to different cultures have helped me develop the capacity to understand the needs of my clients. I love creating beautiful and functional spaces improving the life of the people that live in them.
Now based in Miami, I have found a way to transport my interior design visions and my experience to my clients in a practical way online–my clients can be anywhere! No matter their location, I am skilled at helping them adapt their spaces to their needs and tastes.
No matter where you live or what your style is, I am confident my services will fit your needs. I look forward to working with you!
With my design process my clients will not only get the benefit of a fully functional home, but also save time and money not making expensive mistakes. I craft my services to be an effortless experience .
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
