We were lucky to catch up with Loren Taylor recently and have shared our conversation below.
Loren , appreciate you joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
How I came up with LDT Events. As a little girl I loved everything wedding related. I would sit for hours with bridal magazines and just dream of my own one day. I grew up, went to college and got my degree in Communications. After graduation I didn’t really know what I wanted to do. I started working at a rental company that handled decor for weddings/events. I had worked in the rentals and venue side of the business before shadowing planners and I knew after working in those other areas, that while it was important for me to see these sides that my true calling and love was on the planning and design side.
It was 2017 and I was working a full time job at the time, because well…. I needed money. Feb 28th 2017 was the day I sent in my paperwork to the state to become a legit business. I worked and worked and worked. Full time during the day and then went to meetings, went to networking events, anything I could to learn and get myself out there on the nights and weekends. After a year of being in business I went part time with my day job to give me more time to focus on my business. After that year of going part time and it being wildly successful I went full time with my business in June 2019. It all felt very organic and just a natural progression for my life. I always just knew I would make this business work and make it a success.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
*I added how I got into the industry in the previous question* let me know if I need to change that up and put that in this response instead!
What types of services LDT Events provides: we provide full service planning, partial planning and day of coordination services. We also offer design assistance on all of our packages as well!
We solve so many issues for our clients- I joke around and say that I should add therapist to my resume. From small issues all the way to large scale wedding issues to personal highs and lows, I am there for it all. That is something I truly do think sets me apart from others in my industry is my ability to become friends with a majority of my brides and really connect on a personal level, not just a work level.
I am most proud of how I built this from nothing but an idea and a dream to a successful business that supports me and my family! I am truly so proud of how year after year we just keep getting bigger and better! I have high hopes for LDT in the next 3-5 years so I am just going to keep working hard to achieve these new goals that I have. I want clients, followers and fans to know that I will always give my best and we can’t wait to keep putting on beautiful and meaningful events for our clients!
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think what helped build my reputation in my market is my ability to truly just talk to anyone and everyone! I am not afraid to put myself out there and go to industry events where I might not know someone or talk to someone I don’t know. I think that being put in situations that you are uncomfortable in only gives you the opportunity to grow. I also think that by me being able to talk to anyone it really put me in front of so many different people that I clicked with and then stayed in touch with. I also think that just being genuine, kind and helpful goes a long way. I find those to be traits of mine that I am proud of and that my reputation speaks for itself.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
Referrals!!! Hands down. Whether it be from past clients, other vendors or venues around the area. Referrals are my #1 source of new clients and I am beyond grateful for that!
