We recently connected with Lord Goldie and have shared our conversation below.
Lord, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Are you able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen?
I haven’t got to that point yet but that is the goal. I have made money off of multiple incomes in the music industry that include live show bookings, merch sales, sync placements, streaming and more. In order to survive solely in this industry, multiple incomes is the way to go. It wasn’t like that from day one. Physical sales of music was still a thing when I started taking music serious. That’s another source you can add lol. I definitely know knowing what I know now could’ve helped speed up the process but I do keep in mind that the industry changed drastically year after year since 2011 when I stared back recording.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I was born and raised in the Music City (Nashville). I have watched our growth from the beginning of it and its definitely a love/hate situation (lol). I started writing raps at the age of 9. Joined my first rap group in high school. After I graduated, I went to SAE on music row a year after. I went solo, got into a little trouble, did some time in 2008, came home in 2011 and hit the ground running as a hip hop artist under the name Karizma. I also co-write, produce records, manage artists, engineer and put the word net in network. I am most proud of a collaborative track me & my artists have done together called Sunday Funday. From music to live shows, we’re going to remain unstoppable.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
Support up and coming artists like you support your favorite artist. You never know when it’s going to be someone’s time.
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My mission is to heal people through my music. The world has a lot of wars going on right now from internal to external. Time to change some minds and heal some souls.
