Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lora Moore. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lora thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you think your parents have had a meaningful impact on you and your journey?
I think the biggest thing my parents did right was instill in me a solid work ethic. My father ran his own business, and I watched just how much work being the business owner was. I was always made to work for something I wanted. Taught that nothing would just be handed to me and that if I wanted to be successful, I needed to outwork those around me.
I think that really applies to what I do with clients as well as starting my own business. Fitness cannot be bought; it can only be achieved through the hard work of doing it. It takes a lot of time (often way more than we think or want it to) and it’s a lot of give and take. If you see someone who is super fit, there is no doubt they worked to be that way.
I think the same of someone who runs a successful business. They worked for it. It never comes easy.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
After struggling with my weight my entire life, I started working in the fitness industry as a group fitness instructor. I quickly moved on to personal training after a few years of teaching.
After working for other people for many years I opened my own gym in 2020. It grew beyond my wildest dreams as so many people were looking for a safe and small gym at the height of the pandemic. I was seeing clients 1:1 and handling their nutrition but with only so many hours in the day I was limited on how many women I could help.
I opened my business up online within the first year and by 2021 had worked with a web designer to design my own app to reach people that were not local to me but still reaching out to me for help.
I now still work 1:1 on a limited basis and online with a much larger community of women through 1:1 nutrition coaching online as well as subscribers to my LifestylebyLora app.
My goal is to help women who have struggled with their weight for years get off the diet hamster wheel and find forever success. To date I have helped hundreds of women do just that!
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
My business is literally built 100 % on my reputation and word of mouth. I think the biggest thing that has helped me here is that I have been where my clients are. I am very open honest and real about my struggles. I approach coaching my clients in a very real and sustainable way. I work very closely with them to make sure I understand their personal struggles and situations so we can design a program that works for them.
I genuinely care about my clients. If I didn’t deliver results my clients wouldn’t trust me, and I would not have the success I do.
If you could go back in time, do you think you would have chosen a different profession or specialty?
I did not begin my professional career in fitness. I was actually in medical practice management. I am very glad I ended up where I did and would absolutely choose this profession. I find it incredibly fulfilling helping women find their best selves. I love what I do and consider it a privilege to be able to walk alongside my clients as they find their success.
